According to a book I have,

A pool is a symbol of social gaiety

If you dreamed you were hiding, you are contemplating some action which you suspect (or know) you may later regret, don't be hasty.

No luxury, but a comfortable old age through your own efforts is forecast in a dream where you participated in a chase

Swimming pool = social life
being chased = being criticized
hold your breath = tolerate in bad situation

You may be in a very bad shape in your social life. You projected man chasing you could mean you have some words that hurt you emotionally. This may happen in your social life. However, there is no where you can go or seek support from. You may be seeking alternative way to stay away from it. This may also indicate how you handle things. In other words, you don't like to face your problem directly and that is why you projected keep diving in the pool in the dream to vent out your helpless conscience

Most dream symbol books claim that water is a sign of change, but I interpret water as being knowledge. You being in a pool signifies a lot of things, the biggest clue being your perception of holding your breath for what you believe to be a period of time.
The swimming pool is a controlled learning environment, such as school or work. The person you fear is the authority figure such as your teacher, principal, or work supervisor. The times you go underwater holding your breath represent the stress you feel under certain time periods, such as classroom periods in a class where you aren't doing so well or on the clock at work while your supervisor is around. Him jumping in after you is when you have to report your work and face authority - when you turn in homework papers, tests, or work reviews. You getting away is your knowledge that school ends or you can quit your job.
You can reduce the impact of your fear in this dream by taking time to get to know your teacher or work supervisor as a person and a fellow human being. You know you are fine on your own and have capabilities, but seem to get nervous when authority is around. By facing your fear of authority and getting to know the people in charge as regular people, you will stop being afraid of them.
Good luck in this.

Chasing seems to be the common theme for today.

Water is your subconscious, it can show up as a pool, ocean or rain.

You are in the water when he comes after you, A person chasing you represents anxiety over a waking situation.

Since he is chasing you while you are in the water this represents your subconscious warning you of danger.

Since you know you will get away it is letting you know that you will be able to get passed this, but only if you pay attention to the dangers in your life.

Sounds like you have horror films and whales on your subconscious mind right now.
that you know you'll get away even if you're scared is classic that you see yourself as the protagonist in this piece. No matter what happens you can't die.
Protagonists also tend to have super human abilities or qualities, hence the holding your breath thing could be that also.

Or it could simply mean you've recently heard something about whales or maybe watched something on the news.... and this is your sleeping subconscious brain working out what it couldn't when you were awake.
