Well unfortunately, I think people who microwave their ice cream are a bit odd. Not saying that they are weird (same thing), but saying that I've never heard of people doing it, lol. I know about the running hot water on a metal spoon or ice cream scoop is accetpable. It's not as resourcesful as if you were to put it in the microwave for a few seconds. It's like everytime you want to get another scoop you have to put it back under hot water. So I can see that you're in the right direction about that. So, you're not odd, but just a normal person unlike me whom you should disregard my answer to your question! What my question is, do you put the whole half gallon icecream in the microwave so you can scoop it out or do you scoop it out then put it in the microwave. If some people complain about how hard it is to scoop out ice cream the second question of mine isn't relevant, other than that, the soul purpose of ice cream is that it melts in your mouth and not in no microwave. Sorry Rachel :)

I love people you microwave their ice cream, lol, because I do it. Especially when it is my personal container and I don't have to share. I scoop out the nuked part before I dish it up and yummy! That little part is more flavorful as someone pointed out.

Rather than leaving it on the counter for a few minutes to defrost...it is a lot quicker to put it in the microwave for a few seconds to loosen it up a little bit.

Work smarter, not harder.

My husband does it. He prefers soft serve so it makes sense. By the way, the ice cream doesn't get hot when you microwave it, it just softens it up....

I heard that when you microwave ice cream (just soften it a little) it makes it more flavorful. Somehow it releases more flavor. Who knows...I seen it on one of those chef shows on tv!

They probably want softer ice cream.

But I think it's nuts.
Ice cream is supposed to be cold. There's no point in it if it's microwaved.

About the same as people who fry their ice cream.

I do it. It's easier to scoop. And I like it when it's a little melted because it tastes more like soft serve.

Nothing wrong with that I don't like my ice cream too hard

it's smart or you can but your ice cream scoop under very hot water and it will help loosen it too!
