Clean it up ASAP, then it can't. No one knows why. They just do.

I was told once the reason a dog eats poo or raids the cats litterbox is because their poo is there food that was not used by there body. It doesn't go through the same process as humans. Also mother dogs will eat the poo of their puppies to keep their kennel area clean. My best advise is to clean it up right after the dog goes.

They just do .. I find it is usually small dogs that do it .. try this no guarantee that it will work because I have gotten reviews and sometimes it works and some times it does not

so here is what you do .. chew some trident mint gum chew it up and feed it to the dog .. the dog will swallow it and when the dog passes the gum for some reason they will not eat the poo .. try it .. we did that with our our dog, the vet recommended it and it work for our girl ...

Good Luck

Your dog may not be absorbing all of the nutrients in his own dog food when he eats, so then it is passed in his poop. When he comes across it again, it still has some of his food particles in it and he wants to eat it again. To prevent it, you need to pick it up after he goes each time or your dog is going to have crap breath! You can try to correct him by telling him no when you see him do it and pull him away, but pugs can be stubborn about those types of things. Best to remove the recycleables! Not to mention this is how your dog can get a parasite and need additional vet care.

Historically, dogs were scavengers. Unfortunately, some modern dogs retain this ancient trait.

Dogs especially love cat poo--my vet told me that when I complained about the poo eating.

There are products you can buy to put in your dog's food that will make his feces taste bad (believe me, I get the irony of that statement!)

But, if you stop using the product, and don't clean up the feces promptly, there is a good chance that he will revert back to snacking on the nasty stuff.

Good luck!

My 8mnth old yorkie is just getting out of the habbit, but in the beginning it was really nasty with that smelly breath.

I asked my local vet, and she advised me that it is quite common and alot of dogs do it, its also could be that she was still a pup and anything she saw would just chew and eat on, which was exactly what she was doing. I am so glad that she has finally grown out of the habbit.

Some dogs stop it and some just continue to do it till they cease to excist. Just pick it up to avoid the dog eating it, thats what I did. I also put pepper on the poo, and that help also, might work for you?

My dog too did that when he was still a puppy.. it's really nasty. I am not so sure why they tend to do that.. I just raise my voice whenever he attempts to do that before, to let him know that it is not right to eat his own poo.

this practice is called corprophagy. May dogs do it and I'm not really sure why. The best way for you to resolve this issue is to place the feces into a doggy bag or receptacle immediately after the dog has defecated. It is quite possible for your dog to ingest intestinal parasites if it continues this practice,

I don't really know why some dogs choose to do it but the do. my old dog used to always eat her poop, but my new dog doesn't even sniff his poop. I guess I just depends on the dogs personality and what they are thinking.
