I've never done this before. What kind of pan do you use? Do you put anything on the pan? Do you put anything on the egg? What setting do you put the stove on and for how long?

Grease pan with butter, or preferably "Pam" Cooking Spray.

Heat pan (medium/medium-high)

Break egg into pan. Allow the egg to cook until the membrane turns white around the edges, and has a more solid consistency.

Flip the egg (careful! dont break the yolk)

When the yolk is cooked to the thoroughness you enjoy, serve on a piece of buttered toast.

You generally want to use a non-stick pan for eggs, otherwise they stick very quickly (due to the high protein in the eggs).

You can use a little bit of pam if you don't want to change the taste of the egg, but there's nothing wrong with using a more flavorful oil, breakfast fat (bacon or sausage), or butter.

When you first crack the egg into the pan, I like to tilt the pan up a little bit so that the egg doesn't run out everywhere and you get a nice compact mass that's easy to flip. You want to cook the eggs at a medium/medium-high heat until the bottom sets up, and then flip them once and cook until the yolk is the desired doneness: over-easy (runny), over-medium (soft), or over-hard (firm).

Small fry pan, medium-high heat, put a pat of butter in the pan and when it starts melting add your Egg and turn the heat down to low.

For sunny side up (2-3 minutes)

Cook slowly until whites are completely set and yolks begin to thicken but are not hard.

** Some people cover the pan with a lid at this point but I don't.

For Over-Easy (2 min. first side and 1-2 min. after you flip)

Gently lift eggs with pancake turner and flip upside down into pan to cook second sides.

I added a link that will help you in case I didn't explain it well =)

heat a generous amount of butter or oil in a non-stick pan. crack the egg into the pan, it will start to cook (become opaque) almost immediately. at this point, i always put a cover on the pan for just a few minutes. this causes the top of the egg to cook as well, which makes it a lot easier to flip. wait until all of the egg white becomes solid. (sprinkle salt and pepper). FLIP! wait about 2 minutes (depending on how solid you like the yoke. Enjoy!

Heat 1 tbsp oil/ 15 g butter in a non stick frying pan, when hot over high heat, crack the egg, season with salt and pepper, cook for 3-4 minutes, until egg white is set, then remove.

Use a non-stick skillet. Put a little butter or non-stick spray in the pan, crack the egg, allow it to cook on one side, then flip it over and cook on the other side.
It really depends on how you want the egg for the length of time to cook it. I like my white part all the way done and then the yolk part of the way done (over medium) so I cook it for about 2-3 minutes on the first side and then about 1-2 minutes on the other.

I used a frying pan with a lid(if yours doesn't have one, use one from your pots). I add a bit of olive oil to prevent sticking, turn it on to 3/4 heat or so, wait for it to heat up, once it has I add my eggs, turn the heat to 1/2 strength, then put the lid on and wait.

The time depends on how you like them, sunny side up I'm guessing takes 2 minutes or so, where the yolk is soft, if you want a solid yolk you can leave them on until the yolk doesn't jiggle anymore, and it'll turn a lighter yellow, or you can flip them and cook them for about another minute. Salt and pepper to taste.

My advice is try it, find what works. Eggs are cheap, don't be afraid of messing up, it's part of the fun of learning to cook.

We've all messed it up when we were starting, feel free to experiment. I personally have messed up many eggs in my early days, it's part of the fun, you can laugh about it later.
