I'd like to know if it's really effective. Girls: Any of you had to use it in a real situation?

Man it looks like I get to be that guy, until someone beats me.

Real situations? As in a full on determined attacker? It depends. A good groin shot hurts tremendously yes, but if adrenaline is already flowing, the chances of it stopping someone aren't all that great. It will help to further enrage an already enraged attacker. And small targets such as eyes, are equally as ineffective and difficult.

The truth is, to be really prepared there are no shortcuts. Well that is except being trained and carrying a weapon. A quick course on combat and reactionary shooting along with a conceal and carry license will make you 100 times safer and more effective in a "real" situation.

Yes, you can drop a guy with a nut shot. Providing he is passive, and standing there not expecting it. But if someone is physically attacking you, chances are that nut shot will only increase his aggression and elevate his response.

That is not to say it is ineffective 100 percent of the time. It is a tool, like any other technique, you should have as many of them as possible. I would never say ANY technique works 100 percent, (aside from securing a choke) at stopping an attacker. I have seen people fight with broken arms, and blood blinded eyes.

A nut shot, could give you the seconds you need to escape, so could an eye gouge. However, the chances of you landing either or both effectively, and debilitating a would be attacker is not as sure of a thing as people make it out to be. (Mainly people who only have theories about such and not practical application).

Shooting someone, tazering them, are pretty much sure fire things. You shoot someone enough, they will stop coming after you. You shoot them in the right place, and they will definately stop coming after you.

Spend the money on a gun, some training with it, ammo for practicing, and conceal and carry. (depending on your state).

That will protect you 100 times more than any Martial Art technique, or any nut shot.

Feel free to take some self defense courses, many of them focus on good things such as awareness, improvised weapons, and good loud shouting. Their techniques are alright, but essentially worthless if you aren't going to practice them constantly.

You can test these sort of things with the right group of guys, if you train with good guys have them fake attack and pin you, with everything they have. Let them know that they probably will get kicked in the balls, and then spar this encounter out. If you have guys you can trust that is, people who can take getting a kick in the nuts without losing their temper, for the sake of helping you.

Keep in mind that is still drastically different then when the adrenaline is flowing. Where a would be attacker is anticipating a nut shot regardless, and will be defending it.

Again, no substitute for being armed and ready.

Hope that is of some help.

I'm not a guy, but every single male I've seen take a hit to the testicles folded. And I've seen a lot.

Some guys will tell you that when the adrenaline's pumping, a groin kick doesn't hurt as much and will only enrage the attacker.
Well, I don't know about that, but I'll believe it when I see it. ;-)

I would think that the groin is *usually* the best spot to go for if you're ever attacked; you have less chance of killing/maiming the opponent, which will help keep you out of legal trouble, and the man will be on the ground for at least a few minutes, giving you plenty of time to escape. But keep in mind that it isn't necessarily a "magic button" that's *guaranteed* to keep you out of trouble. There are other targets as well, such as the head/throat, the solar plexus, the knee, etc.

As a side note to the other answers: *usually* a groin shot to girls doesn't hurt. But if you use your toe.... YES, it hurts. A lot.

Not a girl; but, to answer your question anyway: yes, it can be very effective to debilitate an opponent without risking fatal injury. The temple, bridge of the nose, sternum/solar plexus, groin, and instep are all targets that can temporarily bring down a man with one blow - at least long enough to call for help or get away. But, with the head shots, you can hit too hard and kill a person. With the solar plexus, you can break a rib instead of just "knocking the wind out" of someone, and the instep can move very quickly causing you to miss. A good shot to the groin can literally lay out a grown man to the floor. It can hurt so much that breathing, vision, hearing and balance are just wiped out. I'd recommend a self-defense class, even just one lesson, to get a better feel for the angles of attach, anatomy, and potential 'defenses'. But, in any event, use with caustion. Don't try it at home!

-Regards

Try using it in combination with a finger jab to the eyes. Since most guys will be expecting a groin strike from girls, a quick jab to the eyes will distract him and let his guard down for a brief moment, long enough for you to go for the groin shot. It hurts more if guys don't see it coming. By the way, a knee to the groin has a better chance of connecting than a long winding kick, since it's harder to see a knee coming from up close than a kick from mid range.

They certainly can be effective, however I generally recommend kicks to the knee or shin in real self defense situations. It is faster 7 easier to attack the knee than the groin & it is more dificult & takes longer to defend against an attack to the knee. This means your chances of success are much higher kicking to the knee. This should inflict enough pain & slow down your attacker enough for you to escape.

yes groin attacks are effective, you can drop a fully grown men to his knees and in some cases make him cry with a swift kick there is no pain like it. i have been told child birth is like po oping a melon kick to the balls is so painfully there isnt a way to describe it. 100% effective 100% deadly good way to win a fight but you need to make full contact for it to be really effective. that saying it will still stop any man in his tracks with the slightest tap

It's extremely effective. I think women's self-defense classes concentrate on hitting the groin area because its the most sensitive part of the guy's body. Hit it hard enough and it'll give you enough time to run away.

Good Question. Yes its effective when you committ. But then again, its easy to miss, (not all of them have a giant target down there). Also if you miss chances are he will go ape **** because hes pissed that you tried to get him in the nads (guys are weird and sensitive about **** like that). If you miss you bet you will probably get your *** kicked. The opportunity to kick a guy in the balls for a deserving reason almost never appears. Some women wait their whole lives to do it and they never get a chance. Know why? Because hitting a guy in the balls is a big deal. You have to really hate them. They have to be doing somthing really ****** up. Dont just get him in the bads because hes being a little bombarding. You also have to give him a few outs before you really hurt him like that. also. if you do decide to go for the balls. make like your punching him and then go for the balls. Guys do all sorts of weird things to protect their balls and their really good at it too. so trick them! and then strike like a snake.
PS; just like a tittie twister twisting a ball is excrutiating. but your asking to get hit in the face if you do that. (Try tying him up really well first)

You will most certainly get a reaction from a male groin. Female groin seems to be immune due to absence of sensitive dangly-bits.

Trust me, unless there's nothing down there, if a guy takes a hard shot to the groin, it'll stop him for at least a minute or two.
