I sprayed killer at a moth which was flying about the light in my kitchen last night. I realised afterwards that there was leftover lasange on the worktop. If the spray landed on it would it safe to eat once re-heated?

Well I was going to say yes you can eat it as it is only designed to kill insects, and humans are so much bigger that I think you'd have to drain the whole can and more for it to do you any harm, but I see that everyone else has said to throw it away. I do wonder why you had to kill a moth though, they're not really nasty insects.
(And I never wash fruit, and so far, I've had absolutely no problems. The idea of washing fruit with a specially designed solution strikes me as a brilliant marketing ploy aimed at all those paranoid folk who think all germs are bad- some actually makes us stronger....)

Trouble with common sense - it's not common, it's not a sense, and it's not always sensible.

Why not just scrape off the top layer, then eat the bottom layer? My Aunt Nell, rest her, used to say 'you'll eat a peck of dirt before you die', whenever one of us was being a bit precious about eating something that someone might have breathed on or whatever.

It's clear to see that most people on Yahoo have only ever been hungry on purpose. I remember when my Dad lost his job when I was little - we were hungry quite a lot. Not because we were destitute, just because lots of people in the same area lost their jobs at the same time, and ours was one of those families where 'the more, the merrier'. I don't think a plate ever made it to the bin without being twice-licked.

Just to really gross you out - if I was sent out of the house still hungry, I'd strip the aphids off the roses in the garden, and eat those. Like bunches of teeny grapes... yum!

Luckily, we had better things to do than chuck pesticides around.

It is not safe to live in the same house as

1. a bottle of moth killer
2. the purchaser of said bottle
3. the user of said bottle.

I mean, what trouble has a moth caused? Put it outside, feel good about yourself, do not live in a poisoned environment.

This issue is the perfect microcosm of our entire human problem. Can i still eat more food after i wipe out another species with chemicals?

Outdoor insect killer is stronger and can be toxic. If you have to spray it inside, make sure the window is open wide and don't spray it anywhere it will come in contact with people. e.g. kitchen, bathroom, floors if you have small children. I would get an indoor one.

Are you kidding? Of course not, but there are a couple of veggie wash products you can use to remove spray residue from the skin of apples and other fruits and vegetables. Check your local super market or health food store. Or you can use vinegar water, but PLEASE wash your food first!
