My mom is the same way, she HAS to have coffee when she wakes up, or else she can't function. I just recently (as in the past year or so) got into it...if I'm awake early enough (before 10), I'll make a pot, but I do just fine without it,too. I wasn't a fan of the taste either...I guess its acquired.
I like green tea, too...but I don't really use it as an AM caffeine source, I just like the taste.

I have had coffee in the morning for 50 years. My sister, on the other hand, hates the taste.

On a work morning, if I have not had my first cup of coffee, don't even talk to me. Tea is nice, but does not do it for me first thing in the morning.

I allways start my day with a nice cup of Java. Have you tried different flavored coffees? Don't forget to add some cream or even whipped cream, a little cinnamon and even add your honey. Don't give up on coffee just yet.

I don't drink coffee, I usually drink juice. My co-workers would sometimes make fun of me for having soda first thing in the morning, but what's the difference from them drinking coffee? Both have sugar and caffeine.

I love coffee, but oddly enough, not in the morning. If I drink it when I get up, the oils irritate my nose, and I start sneezing! I love to have it before bed; the caffeine doesn't seem to affect me at all, and I find the warmth soothing.

To each his own.
Personally I love coffee. I have loved it since I was very young. Tea? I can take it or leave it. I guess it's what you are brought up on or born to like.
