IE (internet explorer) is the Default internet application on a PC. It has a very basic interface that is great for inexperienced users. Firefox is basically the same thing, but you can improve it. You can use add-ons and skins to make it look different. There's also better settings options. I currently have my Firefox erasing my history every time I close out a window. I also have many of my most frequented sites built into my tool bar. I also have Google in the upper right hand corner.

The developer behind them.
FireFox is buit by Mozilla which use very standart of HTML, so people often use Mozilla for their usual internet browsing tasks.
Internet Explorer follows Mozilla (Mozilla-like browser) so, there are no significant different for these two products. Except IE is created by microsoft, and it has more integratibility with Windows, and consume less resource than Mozilla if runs at Windows.
One positive side of mozilla is multi-tab interface, which allows you to browse more page in just single window. But this feature is adapted by IE on its 7th version.
And another key feature that makes Mozilla FireFox is more lovable than IE is Mozilla integrated download manager. The download manager itself support 'resume' ability that allows you to resume your downloads if they lost connection or you can pause downloading with it.
But, for me. I just like IE more, because it runs much 'lighter' on my windows system. And if you use FTP a lot, you probably won't like Mozilla behaviour for handling FTP.
You can drap and drop file using IE FTP as easy as using file explorer.

For addition: Some javascript is not compatible with mozilla, but I think it is fixed in 1.0.0.2 verse.
There won't be any different for result of webpage generation if the HTML code is 'clean'. It can different if code is NOT 'clean' (or some people called it formal)
I hope this will be help...

Mozilla Firefox is faster, and easier to use.The greatest advantage is that you have less chance to getting a virus, spyware, or adware. And I will say it again, that Mozilla Firefox is faster in speed. For example clearing all history takes two clicks. While on internet explorer you have to delete files, and also the history. Then you also need to delete auto complete forms to delete the history. While on Mozilla you just need to press clear history.

Both are browsers. Firefox is an open-source browser developed by mozilla and has a tons of addons and skins that you can add and is fast browser. Internet Explorer is a software by Microsoft which is no good and is very slow. it has low features when compared to firefox.

They are different tools for doing the same job. There isn't a great deal to choose between them these days in terms of their basic features, but Firefox has a much better security record and a very nice Add-Ons feature which lets you add extra features (such as advert blocking: http://adblockplus.org/en/ ). You'll also find that you can customize the look of Firefox far more: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:2 ). So Firefox generally has the edge.

From the perspective of a web author, Firefox is a much easier browser to write webpages for as it has fewer bugs when it comes to handling web standards.

IE has loads of stuff that wants to run along side it so it has lots of clutter.and Microsoft make sure they know what you are doing.
firefox is faster has less clutter and reports to no one.and if you find a bug in firefox or thunderbird(email ) you could earn some cash.
thunderbird is so much better then outlook.Promise

Internet Explorer uses ActiveX controls (google for it) sent from web sites to do things on your PC. It's OK when you are doing things like Windows Updates. But, ANY website can use ActiveX to do anything they want on your PC, like format your hard drive, etc.

Firefox doesn't use ActiveX controls, so it is much safer to use for "normal web browsing" than IE. For more info:
