I really like this song, "Golden" By Fall Out Boy and I wanted to see if it made people think about different things depending on religon.

How cruel is the golden rule?
When the lives we lived are only golden-plated
And I knew that the lights of the city were too heavy for me
And though I carry karats for everyone to see

And I saw God cry in the reflection of my enemies
And all the lovers with no time for me
And all of the mothers raised their babies
To stay away from me

Tongues on the sockets of electric dreams
Where the sewage of youth drown the spark of my tears
And I knew that the lights of the city were too heavy for me (too heavy for me)
And though I carry karats for everyone to see (everyone to see)

And I saw God cry in the reflection of my enemies
And all the lovers with no time for me
And all of the mothers raised their babies
To stay away from me

And pray they don't grow up to be me

Please put your thought and religon in your answer! Thank You!

Those are actually some beautiful lyrics.

Let's see if I can pick them apart line by line:

How cruel is the golden rule?
When the lives we lived are only golden-plated

I think that means that nothing we do is genuine, it only looks good on the outside.

And I knew that the lights of the city were too heavy for me
And though I carry karats for everyone to see

I think that's pretty much self-explanatory. The glitter of the city holds nothing, and all the jewels in the world are worthless compared to what we have in our hearts.

"I saw God cry..." That's beautiful, and again, pretty self-explanatory.

And then:
Tongues on the sockets of electric dreams
Where the sewage of youth drown the spark of my tears

I believe it means that our dreams have been our downfall, and we've been let down by each generation.

I'm a Christian. Sounds like a great song, even if I'm not a fan.

SAD or ROCK? Okay.. I'm now not certain on that. If by means of unhappy you imply.... gradual and type of emo... Evanescence has plenty of those, as good as rock, equivalent to: Hello Like You My Immortal Your Star Missing All That I'm Living For Sweet Sacrifice Weight of the World Going Under The Veronicas: All I Have Heavily Broken In Another Life Someone Wake Me Up My Chemical Romance has plenty of well rock songs, and so does Switchfoot.

I really don't get it, could you explain? Sorry, I'm just not good at understanding lyrics that tell stories, sorry! I'm a Christian, umm I belive everything the Bible says I don't have a 'title' I don't like titles, people always have to fit as closely into some religion as they can just belive what you belive, although I must say no matter what you belive (no offfense) it's worng, unless you belive in God because he says he's the ONLY way, I know some christians who say this is my way to heaven now go find yours, and that to me is weird. Anyhoo sorry i couldn't understand the lyrics, I guess I'm just not umm idk smart? lol
