Yes!! The oldest is often the one the younger siblings look up too for answers! The oldest takes on a lot of responsibilities and is not even aware of those responsibilities! If you are in a bind the younger siblings will often look to you for questions and answers! The oldest is the one who takes on many things such as when was your fist kiss, when was your first date, your first love...etc! So you should care and be responsible in your role as the oldest should do!

If you lead by example, don't flaunt it. The problem is, a lot of older brothers want to tell their younger brothers that they need to be like them. That doesn't work at all. You have to have a good life, good friends, good grades, good relationships with those in authority, and make them want that too.
Some parents set the goal so high that the younger ones turn to drugs or something similar. Don't compare, just be an example.

Well it is always good if you are the oldest to try and set a good example for your younger sibilings.....but in time you will find out that they will eventually make their own decisions and do what it is that they think is right (even if you have proved in the past that it was wrong). I tried setting examples for my younger brother and sister and both of them ended up having kids while still in high school!!

My brother is the oldest in the family, and he knows that myself and our younger sister look up to him.
I guess in some cases, leading by example is good, it really depends on what the situation is.

A responsible older brother would always lead by example. It is good practive on how to be a man and, someday, a father.
