What would you do in this situation?

Lets say you’ve been friends with someone online for several years. You both have a lot in common and like talking to each other. However your friend wants start talking on the phone but you don’t. This causes a lot tension and your friend tells you that if you don’t talk to them on the phone they won’t talk to you ever again. Your friend wants to be closer to you and feels that not making the next step to talk on the phone means you don’t really care about being their friend. You have told your friend that it would make you very uncomfortable to do that and that you just want to email each other but they seem to not listen to you. What would you say to your friend?

Tell them that *he/she* doesn't care about *you.* What kind of friend doesn't respect you when you feel uncomfortable? Tell you friend that if they are really your friend they will wait to talk to you on the phone.

I have several online friends...i've actually met some of them because i play computer games competitively so we played in lan tournaments...i would never force someone to talk to me on the phone or push to meet them in person..especially if they are the opposite sex...nothing established over the internet will be really serious, but u can still be friends...if the other person continues to insist on it and you don't want to mayb its time to go ur seperate ways, it not worth it to put urself in a wierd or mayb even dangerous position

I would establish the line. He/she thinks your friendship needs to progress. You need to clarify exactly what you're looking to get from this friendship: Just an online friend? Or would you actually meet someday? He/she seems to think the latter...

gee sage, have some problems?

Who is hiding what here? not them as they are looking for a REAL relationship and apparently you are not.

Reality suggests this is at an end as you are unable to have real relationships, only fake ones through sterile means.
