I think a picnic basket with a nautical theme would be nice. Some wine glasses, maybe a bottle of wine or champagne, a corkscrew, nautical napkins, tablecloth, plates, and silverware or hard plasticware. Maybe a smaller gas card or a gift card to a local deli or restaurant near the lake. Note on the card that it is for their romantic lake or boat trips.

I think the gas card would be a great idea as long as you come up with some kind of a cute message to put in the card so that they know you meant it for the boat. If not they might be confused by it.

What about a fire extinguisher (not water-based) to take on a boat or a subscription to a magazine or rescue service?
