What do we REALLY know about them?
They have been here since the founding of our nation, but they might as wel be a foreign entity.
They reject our technological cluture, they cling to outdated lifestyles, and any attempts to assimilate them are met with fierce resistence. Yet, here they are right in our midst. There are an estimated 55,000 Amish in Ohio, 47,000 in Pennsylvania, and 37,000 in Indiana
Isn't it time we started keeping a close eye on these cults?

Well, I have a greatest respect for the Amish. And keep an eye on them for what reason?
Are they involved in drugs? No. Are they a threat to us? No.
When is the last time that an Amish person EVER caused you or anyone you know harm. NEVER.
And they are not a cult and never have been.

Why wouldn't I? They are just like us. They are more conservative, but they see, to be honest, hard-working people.
My philiosophy is to assume the best until proven otherwise. You cannot just group everyone in a lump.
Treat them as individuals. It's unfair to say that everyone in a certain group is the same way.

(John 17:15-16) “I request you, not to take them out of the world, but to watch over them because of the wicked one. 16Â They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world.
The Amish have taken themselves out of the world, in opposition to Jesus' request to his father to KEEP THEM IN THE WORLD.
NOT TO BE A PART OF IT WITH ITS WICKED WAYS, BUT TO BE ' IN ' IT.
The Amish live separate from the world and have made laws to suit.
In contrast, the J.W'S live in the world, alongside other people, but also do not get involved in 'worldly' things,

Hardly a cult, thank you.
Have they done anything that would call for such scrutiny?
Are you upset they don't buy into the mainstream American culture of consumerism, of materialism?
