When animals are looking for hiding places and they are sick it means they want to be left alone or they are dying. I'm sorry to say that but it happens.

He could be embarrassed. Our dog had a back bout of 'the runs' and the poor dog was hiding behind a treat and wouldn't come in the house. When we went to the vet she said he was probably embarrassed. If he is sick though, or acting differently, you should take him to the vet right away.

Most sick animals will want to be quiet and in a safe location since a sick animal in the wild is a lunch bell ringing. Usually they are very sick when they want to hide so a vet visit is probably in order soon if he doesn't feel better.

My beloved and precious Lab (Thunder) was doing that on Wed. and Thurs. He had 2 surgeries in 1 month. I took him into the vet A S A P and he had something very severe wrong with him. I told the Vet of his unusal things he was doing. Buring his head in the blankets etc. I had x-rays and blood work and I knew what I had to do.

Yes Thunder was dieing. On July 6, 2007 my beloved and precious Lab was put to sleep with the angels.

Please take your dog to the vet A S A P!

first off get him to a vet. looking for a place to hide is a very bad sign. my dog did the same thing and in his case when i brought him to the vet turned out he had heat stroke. 1wks at the vets for that.In the wild they look for places to hide from prey when sick or injured .(hide) are be alone when very sick because in most cases they are dying and cats rather not be around their mom or dad . it like they don't want you to see them suffering before death unless of course you intervene and get vet care right away

He's sick? Do you mean he's ill, or he's vomiting? Either way, just take him to a vet. Animal's are known to hide away sometimes when they're not well, they want to be alone. You need to find out what's wrong.

You haven't said age of dog but if not old get to the vet immediately. Been there and done that and if it's bad news you will regret it forever. Hate to say what I think it is. Good luck.

I have noticed from my old dogs i used to have they always distant themselves when they feel like they are going to die they want to be left alone without making anyone sad... take him/her to the vet ASAP if you can. make sure hes eating good,if not then thats a bad sign.
