What is the best way to protect a futon mattress from a baby or child's urine? My neighbors toddler loves to nap on my futon, which is fine with me, but she still has accidents. Right now I'm using a bed mattress pad but it doesn't fit well. What is used in Japan in hotels and in families with young children to protect against accidents?

You could put one of these on, and an old sheet that you don't really care about over it to cover it up.

maybe you could cover it in a plastic type sheet, that you can buy from the hardware store or you could put a pull up nappy on her before she sleeps on the futon!! or place a garbage bag under her with some towels,, good luck!!

our family has always wrapped the mattress in trash bags, then put the sheets and such on it as normal.
