Yes, men CAN get breast cancer. It is much less likely, but has happened. You should see a doctor.

Because the breast is composed of identical tissues in males and females, breast cancer also occurs in males, though it is less common. Women are 100 times more likely to get breast cancer then men. Male breast cancer accounts for < 1% of total cases; manifestations, diagnosis, and management are the same, although men tend to present later. Male breast cancer is most common in men between the ages of 60 and 70.
Knowing the signs and symptoms of breast cancer may help save your life. The earlier the disease is discovered, the more treatment options and the better chance of recovery you have.
Most breast lumps aren't cancerous. Yet the most common sign of breast cancer for both men and women is a lump or thickening in the breast. Often the lump is painless. Other signs of breast cancer include:
* Skin dimpling or puckering
* Development of a new retraction or indentation of the nipple
* Redness of scaling of the nipple or breast skin
* A spontaneous clear or bloody discharge from the nipple

Yes it is possible. Men have breast tissue, just a much smaller amount. I'm not sure what the symptoms are, but this link might help.

I hope you are ok.

EDIT: I found symptoms for you.

a discharge from the nipple
a change in the shape or appearance of the nipple
a change in the shape or appearance of the breast, such as swelling or dimpling
pain
swollen lymph nodes (glands) under the arm.

Yes. Men can have breast cancer too. There would be a lump. But lump can be malignant or otherwise. The best choice is to see a doctor before it is too late.

I dont't find out about introverted nipples, but inverted nipples could also be a sign of breast melanoma in men. You probably have this in conjunction with nipple soreness or discharge, or a lump within the breast then it is worhty of being checked out.

Yes, it is possible although extremely rare. There are also many other things that you could have beside cancer so dont freak too much. It could be just a cyst or something similar. You should make an appt. with your doctor to be sure.

Yes men can get breast cancer. I've seen it myself(I'm a x-ray tech). The guy I saw waited too long to see someone and it killed him. So definately get yourself to your doctor today. You'll get a mammogram and possibly a biopsy quite soon I'm sure.DON'T PANIC, I know that could be hard but it's not always a death sentence. Good luck!!

men can have breast cancer, go and get the lump checked out soon, though it may only be a cyst, lumps that are cancerous do not usually hurt

2007-07-08 23:06:54 · answer #9 · answered by madge 4 · 0 0

Yes. It isn't necessarily cancerous. Cancer doesn't usually hurt. Could be a cyst or other benign tissue, but definitely get checked out.

Breast tissue is gender neutral. Women have mammary glands inside their breasts, to allow them to nurse babies, etc., but breasts are not male or female.
