You can find the area of a Town or City in which they live just by looking at the phone number.
For example 0121 is the prefix for all Birmingham calls.
The next part tells you which part of Birmingham, so 0121-440-???? Tells you that it is the Halesowen area of Birmingham.
After that I think you need to rely on the Company (send a letter and enclose a stamped addressed envelope with enclosed letter, to Mr. Whoever you want to contact and ask if they could forward it to him. You 'll need to give them a good reason why you want to send a letter to Mr. Whoever or leave the letter unsealed so that they can see you aren't a stalker or blackmailer, etc.
Then, you have the Electoral Roll, Friends Reunited and similar sites -
myspace.com, facebook.com, missing-you.com, Yahoo!search, Reunion.com.
I don't know if www.reversescan.com can find an ex-directory number - not tried it.
