What is the benefits of head covering?

In a spiritual way, it covers the roots of the person. Especially with women because of the nature women tend to hold since the beginning of time.

There are two ways of looking at this.....

One is that there is a saying that a woman's hair is her crown. Therefore, when a woman covers her hair she protects her "crown" from the elements...... Heat and sun will wear hair follicles down......


Secondly, there is a saying that when a woman prophecies, that person must prophecy with a covered head, other wise, they disgrace their heads (their knowledge).

There are two ways about it...... (1 Corinthians 11)

MEN: 4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.


WOMEN:
5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.


Remember too, that those women who did not cover their heads, were often bald because they were slaves.......

Spiritually: A head covering is a womans "sign, symbol" of authority when she speaks or prays. Contrary to many beliefs, head coverings have been seen as a sign of submission, but it is quiet the opposite. In the Greek that authority that a woman has is translated into "exousia" which means "power, right and dominion over". Hope I helped.

Head covered is dust free so, it is cleaner particularly for women who have lang hairs & washing them everyday is problematic. In zones where dustwind & desertwind is phenomenon of every now & then, it is benificial particularly in hot summer having temperatures of over 40 deg C. In summer in India in May or June it is impossible to come out at 12.00 hr or so without covering the head & face. Many persons die of heatwave immediately. Situation is worse in Arab countries where u cannot move without that. Now they use a/c vehicles all the time.
For ladies it gives protection , dignity & respect which other ladies who wear short clothes don't have as it is well understood fact that good ladies hide their anatomy & are fully dressed properly & those ones who are partly dressed do not have that much respect or no respect at all(majority believes so, not me).

Why do our elders say to cover our head and sit on a mat while praying. Because while you pray, you get positive vibrations from god. If you didn;t cover your head and sit on the mat ( or kerchief or some cloth) , the gravitaional force absorbs the positive vibrations which you gained. That is why elders say to cover our head and sit on a cloth or mat while praying god. It is said scientifically and spiritually too.

Could be a practice born out of necessity.Islam being born in desert country where sand storms and strong winds are common it is necessary to prevent sand worrying you.Even Arab men are covering their head.
In India in Rajastan adjoining Thar desert people wear turbans and veil.
