Because most cops are as##oles and abuse the power they have...Just look and read on the net how many Innocent people get killed by cops almost every day and then they get away with it because of code blue they all lie for their fellow cops so they won't get in trouble...This happened a lot in the LA PD Gang unit...There have bin many documentaries on this subject and even confessions from former cops on this...What comes around go's around(CARMA) Its just to bad when it happens to some of the good cops.....

A variety of reasons, some I have come across:

fleeing the scene of a crime
mad at someone else and then they are stopped by an officer
angry they were previously arrested and lash out at next officer
gang initiation
intoxicated or high on narcotics
"suicide by police:" they cannot kill themselves so they shoot at an officer in hopes of being killed
basically just because they are evil

no respect for the law or civilians basically. Sads isn't it? A few years back, we had a State Trooper here in Ohio shot and killed on 71 northbound, about as hour away from Cleveland, Michael Gross. It's a shame. This old country had better tighten up. People that do things like that aren't right in the head to begin with, ya know?

That is a problem most countries that legalise the use of guns/weapons experience. Unfortunately, police officers are always the first to come into contact with such ppl due to their job nature but i admire these police officers. They have lots of courage. Where i live, the police act differently. At times of emergency, they are always not around. Where trivial matters like little fire broke out somewhere, you would see bunches of them.

Unstable humans kill police officers. No sane person walks around with the thought, "ya know, I am going to go kill a police officer today!" It is part of the world we live in, crime that is, but what can people do?

Only about 2% are actually cold blooded heartless killers. The majority were regular taxpaying hard working citizens, who either knew someone or were directly victimized themselves, by some local agencies complete disregard for (our ancestor's originally envisioned) fair and all inclusive concepts that are described in the (permanently irrevocable and unchangeable contracts) Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Unfortunately some of those who abuse this entrusted position of authority, develop an "us against them" mentality, forgetting that they are being paid to live an "unsullied" lifestyle and cannot expect every tax paying citizen to also stand up to some "tainted" scrutiny based upon flippant personal opinions. Fear based survival reactions of this, increasing number of broken hearted and "downtrodden upons" end up, unknowingly, killing an officer with ethical integrity. This problem is almost non-existent in areas where Police rotate civil duty as Firefighters ect...thus allieviating corrupted "bodies in "beds or bodies in bags" predatory police chiefs speeches. Until local governments stop looking the other way while taking some "quick nickle", history shows result examples of eventual overthrow or civil war action. Feeding off of the people, (who are supposed to be protected from oppression) is what creates this suspicious dubious environment. Some of these "mealy mouthed faces" actually "smirk with insolence" as they perpetuate grief with "Orwellian" (favoritism pandering) legal jargon, and double/triple jeopardy tactics NOBODY ever voted for. A "must read" on this subject entitled "DWI = DUI = IMPAIRED" can be found at http://forums.phoenix.craigslist.org/?forumID=48&all=N

It's because the criminals are afraid of the cops and do not want to go to jail.
It's stupid and cruel.

Do educated people think they are that much better than everyone else. Stop patting yourself on the back and get your stuffy nose out of the air because educated people are just fuckwits who believe they know it all.

I heard that that one of the most dreaded situations for a policeman is having to respond to domestic violence in process. Pissed off hubbies & wives frequently assault anyone
in their way, especially anyone in authority. Possibly just a case of temporary insanity. It's a real shame, I feel for the policeman's family.

Why do people shoot anyone? they just get in the way of the bullet? Guns aren't toys, and bad people tend to have guns. Cops are just unlucky that they have to deal with emotional distressed, crazy folks, and hardened crimes, who all happen to get their hands on guns.
