You can not bankrupt child support. So how much is your debt after that.

If you bankrupt it could affect you for 7-10 years. (really now a days not that long but it could)

If you can pay your debt off in less time than the bankruptcy .. then do it.. if not then bankrupt.

If so start calling your creditors and make arrangements. even if your paying $5/month to each.. its still progress.

Liquidate your stuff. downsize your monthly bills and start being responsible.

sounds like you have more than financial problems. Your making the right 1st step. Just don't make it worse by only making 1 part of your life better while other parts are still making a hole for you.

You need to stop trying to afford a life your paychecks can't pay.

You may want to use one of those free credit counseling. search the internet.

Yes, you need to file for bankruptcy, and concentrate on paying your child support...that is a financial obligation that you can't bankrupt, nor should be able to.

That will take care of your credit cards and medical bills.

Your debt isn't the reason you can't get a bank account...lots of people have tons of debt, and get bank accounts. You most likely have a history of bounced checks, and a bank will deny you an account if the history is substantial.

You also need to make an effort to getting your license back.

Call a bankruptcy attorney, and take it from there.

There are debt reduction services that may be able to help. They will help consolidate the debts. Often times the creditors will take lower payments and will lower any interest rate. The debt reduction services will help you come up with a dollar amount to pay each month that you will be able to live with.

The child support may be a little different than your other debts but they may be able to help with that too.

Good luck. Make an appointment now - you will feel much better.
