Okay. It's 3:30 in the morning, and I hear this weird noise. I wake up my mom, and it's coming from my 20 pound daushaund terrier.

It sounds like he's farting. But it's inside his stomach. He's alert, but can't seem to get comfortable anywhere. He's also whining and looking at his stomach with a confused look.

He acts like he wants to throw up, but he can't seem to get it out. His stomach is not bloated, but I can feel where it's doing this.

SOMEONE HELP ME!!

Get this dog to the emergency vet right away to make sure he is not bloating. If he is and he gets torsion as well, he will die in agonizing pain! Good luck and get going!

Go to a vet, asap. Clearly he's got stomach problems - sounds rather like the beginnings of a GDV to me and while this is rare in small dogs it's not impossible. He's clearly in pain anyway and where the stomach is concerned this cannot be good.

Wait no longer!

It sounds as though he has gas. Bloat occurs in large breeds and your little dog is certainly not in that category so I don't think it's that. He probably ate something he shouldn't have. If he wants to go outside, by all means let him. Make sure he is on a leash though. Whatever he ate may pass through with no problem. If he doesn't get better you will need a vet. Sometimes they swallow really dumb things!

. What has he been eating? did he get into any garbage or people food? If he has give him a little pepto bismol. get the cherry kind (if you can) i have a 30 pound dog when he gets into the garbage i give him 2ml. about 1ml-1.5ml should help your dog out untill the vet opens in the morning.

If he has been eating something like chicken bones or plastic wrappers give him a teaspoon of mineral oil to help him pass it and prevent bowel obstruction. You will have to take him out side in about 20-30 mins and then again every few hours

Bloat is the first thing that came to my mind too. Get him seen right away, find an emergency vet. Better safe than sorry. Good luck.

Edit: One of the links even mentions Dachshunds being prone to it. I never knew that and should, since I have one! I always have associated it w/Danes and such. I'm very worried about your dog. Please, get him to a vet...right away!

I would at first say indigestion but when you said that he can't get comfortable, that is problematic. I would say take him to the vet immediately. It may just be indigestion but it is better to rule out IBD, or a perforated colon.

TAKE HIM TO THE VET, then they know what to do, you wont have to worry about anything, they will help you.
