I connect my VHS player to my laptop but it doesn't recognize it, it always says that I should have a software to use it. Does anybody know what software to use for editing VHS tapes and transfer it in a CD (for mac software)?

My laptop is a PowerBook with G4 processor. It has an S-Video output on the right side beside the one with the monitor output.

The only software I've ever seen for this type of thing was Final Cut Pro and iMovie. VHS is so outdated I'm surprised that someone is even asking about it.

There are tons of ways to do this. You could get a DVD recorder and record from VHS to DVD, then import the DVD files and edit them. Besides that, just look for ANY program that allows you to record a video stream from a video input (i'm sure stuff like final cut can do this), and from there you just capture the video stream as it is playing. Does your laptop have a TV capture card in it?

How did you connect it? Most Laptops only have OUTPUT port for S-Video, and you can't connect output from VHS to an output port. That simply won't work.
