panic attacks frequantly, ive had this for a long long time and it stops me from going out, living my life. ive been victimised and attacked on the street in the past so i think the high anxiety stems from this and it happening again. however when im having panic attacks, i get angry at myself because i dont feel like a real man....when im having them, i feel panicky and scared, nervous, especially in public places....and im furious with myself because of it, i was panicking before because of noise coming from outside, i got angry at myself and punched myself in the face......
can anyone help me on how to view this condition without me thinking im a scared, victim of a person...whos pathetic and that everyone laughs at?

Everyone who has a defect at one time or another gets angry with the defect. One of mine is a short left arm, say I have to reach for something up high I can only do it with one arm. A friend of mine has trouble gripping items and drops them. You angry but go on.

Dear coop.....I suffered from panic attacks and anxiety for many many years. I became agoraphobic at one point and didn't leave my home for almost two years. I finally became so depressed that I decided to end my life. During this whole time I did not seek any professional help and refused to even consider taking medication. This is not something that you can "beat" on your own. Think of it this way....if you had diabetes or a heart condition you would go to a doctor. What you are experiencing is a result of organic brain chemistry and needs to be treated with medication just like any other illness. I have finally turned my life around. I don't have panic attacks any more and my depression is well under control. Now I just regret the time that I missed in life when I didn't try to get help. I wish I could turn back the clock and recover the time wasted but instead I am focusing on every new day and every new experience. best wishes to you

Hi! I’m so sorry to hear you’re feeling bad. The following simple steps should significantly reduce or eliminate the panic attacks and feelings of anger:

1. Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.

2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks, anxiety, anger etc. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can take a course for free online at: http://www.livinglifetothefull.com/elear... It has been funded by NHS Scotland and has had great results thus far.

3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. This site has instructions on how to do it without the tapes (and other useful info): http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resource...

Hope you feel better soon. Best of luck.

First do you want to know how to make it better or just why or what you feel? If it is how to make thing improve ...slowly and alone mind you start to confront the things that cause your panic's. Lets say it is water....find a small pond....if it is the inability to see whats in it make small steps...sit there one day for a few hours and watch it then move closers each day do not skip a day and do not run away.... if you panic move back some lay down breath and think about what it is that is bothering you... I am afraid I will get eaten!!!! well....research then if it makes you feel better.... crocks and the like respond to move ment and have a preditor instinct and respond to move ment to splashing. So if you get in slowly and back out slowly .....but snakes....we hell you are going to die some day....you have to go through this and once you have gone through each fear you will some day arive and the end of it... not to say it can not be triggered again...seeing a crock in the water with you...or a snake ...or something you did not think of but has resurfaced as a new fear....what im saying is everyday you have to slowly face it and learn how you respond then start to look at why and what to do about it.

Hi buddy ,
I am also facing something similar , the feeling of being victimized - afraid to go out etc . I think you are suffering from Paranoia , and it needs the help of a practitioner.
Read some good spiritual or meditation books - try to reduce your ego ...
wishing you all the best .
