it is normal if you do not have enough sleep regularly, that way it can help you replenish your sleep debt. If you get enough sleep and still sleep a lot then you will need to consult a doctor about it.

Having personally experienced this problem, I am wondering if your wife is taking any medications that are making her lethargic. It's very possible that she could be on the wrong meds or the wrong combination if she is taking anything. It's an awful way to feel all the time so be patient with her and realize how much she must be suffering. If she is not on any meds, get her to a doctor if you can. Maybe it's depression . . .

I sleep for around 10-12 hrs a day if tim permits . Its a personal trait depending on your genes as to how much you need to sleep to feel fully rested . In your wife's case I think there is something wrong and she needs some medical assistance ...
But its nothing serious if treated properly
Regards

Another good resource is the book "Women's Bodies Women's Wisdom" by Dr. Christiane Northrup, M.D. Your wife may have a nutritional deficiency, combined with any of the other possibilities already mentioned. Consider seeing a certified nutritionist, holistic healthcare practitioner or naturopathic doctor for testing and treatment.

She could be suffering from depression. When it gets in the way of everyday activities like work, its a sign that she should get some professional help soon.
Try to be understanding and supportive during this difficult time for her. Good Luck.
