My cat shows no interest in eating, and when he gets up to the water bowl, he stares at it like he doesnt know what to do anymore. He hasnet eatin in 2 days, and has not drank any water while Ive watched him. He aparently has been drinking some water because I dont think a cat can vomit for 2 days and keep vomiting some sort of watery substance. He was perfectly fine and his usual playful self just 2 days ago, so we arent sure what has gotten to him. He is VERY lathargic, and seems to have trouble locating people when they are right in front of him. He is 14 and a half years old, so hes an old man in cat years. He doesnt have any problem with me picking me up and holding him (and is really the only time he makes an attempt at purring) so I wouldnt think there is anything obstructing his stomach or intestines. Im thinking that he has some sort of cat flu or something. Can anyone conferm? I appreciate any help you may be able to give. Thanks. BTW the vets are closed on weekends here!

Your cat is seriously ill and needs to see a vet ASAP.
He will only get more ill if he goes any longer without eating and become dehydrated. If you have an after hours vet service I would suggest using them as the cost will go up and up as he gets more and more ill.
Possibilities:
Kidney failure
Diabetes
Intestinal obstruction
Other gastrointestinal upset or disease
cat flu (if there is a discharge from nose)
cancer
poisoning
cardiomyopathy
The list goes on and on.

It's not the weekend now, so I REALLY hope the cat is at a vet by now.

It isn't cat 'flu - this is a respiratory infection, nothing to do with vomiting. Cats can certainly keep vomiting 'watery stuff' if they haven't been drinking - it's called bile. After two days of not eating or drinking and vomiting, your cat will be extremely dehydrated - as evidenced by the lethargy.

I would not wait one more second to get this cat to a vet. You really should have found an emergency one over the weekend. There are many things that could cause these problems, including a virus and tumours, so don't wait any longer.

Find an emergency vet in your area! I am in a rural area where the vets close on the weekends also, but if you call their numbers, you can get emergency contact information.

This sounds like what my 17 yo did 4 months ago when I found out she is in kidney failure. I am happy to report she is responding nicely to fluids and special diet.

A cat this old is too old to go 2 days without food or water. At 14 it could be any number of illnesses.

You sound like a caring owner. I hope you can find out what is causing his discomfort.

Good Luck!

Your baby is seriously sick, dude. Rush him/her to the vet immediately. It could be a urinary tract infection or something worse. My cat was sick in the same way and we took her to the animal hospital. Of course it depends on the city you're located in but sometimes there is an animal hospital and/or maybe a vet school somewhere.... go now....check the yellow pages...Here are some other references....

Get your cat to the vet! My cat used to do that. It ate a black widow. It had all the syptoms you have been describing. He had severe intestinal problems and died because we didn't get him to the vet in time.
