is ww3 even possible?

Question

most people have defined ww3 being the nuclear holocaust, but...

assuming US (5700 active nukes), Russia (5800), France (350), UK (200), and China (130) are all too intelligent to launch nuclear missiles against eachother (each country has too much too lose so to speak, and there is no "beef" between them large enough to justify such an attack)...

and the significantly smaller nuclear states --India (120), Israel (120), Pakistan (30) and North Korea (5?) are not inclined or in the position to attack the major nuclear states, or do enough damage that would destroy mankind...

what could actually cause ww3 and how does this spell annihilation for the human race?

With every nuclear power's economy being dependant on importing and exporting to and from other nuclear powers it'd be suicide for them to nuke their neighbors. However, it is feasible that a "Third world World War" could break out amongst the lesser developed nations in the mid-east and africa where racial and religious tensions are already fairly high and nuclear powers would be involved via funding, weapons supply and trading embargos. But it's hardly the exciting nuclear holocaust every one is hoping for. :)

One thing is for sure.. it won't be like World War II. Too much information available to the average person today.

But, yes, it is possible, and perhaps in the history books of your grandchildren, it has already started.

I am pretty confident that any future use of nuclear weapons would set off a chain reaction of events that could not be stopped. It will probably start with some kind of attack against or by Israel.

i believe it very possible. North Korea hates US and most of the world. they are scary. China too. I'd rather not think about the devastation ww3 would cause.

the subsequent international conflict often is the tip of the international. yet I enormously doubt there will be yet another international conflict in basic terms from the actuality that anybody is to scared to fireside a nuclear missile understanding that they sign there own death warrant in the event that they fire it. incredibly what i think we would have for the subsequent century or so is conflict against "Insurgents" the west will assassinate enemy leaders who've the ability to fireside nuclear weapons and then declare the rustic is being taken over for the sake of conserving the human beings.

I think we are well on our way and I think Iran and the extremists will be the cause of it. They dont care if they poison the world. Yes they will use nukes. Therefore, we must fight them hard.
