Our church is quite small but we have a good group of kids that need something. We cannot afford alot right now, but if we can build up our program, we could convince our finance board to fund some more. Please help! We are really struggling to keep people attending church.

Lead them in the word...It is the only way anyone knows God is through his revelation. It is not gimmicks and tricks that lead people to God but his word Jesus Christ.

Heres a great suggestion - teach the kids to respect themselves and everyone else. Be kind to all people and give out of love not want, tell them peace comes from inside themselves and cant be gotten chasing things outside themselves - if its entertainment your after buy a ball and play soccer with them - alot can be learned about God from playing games if you have a little imagination. Some of God's best workers were severely under funded.

Make your church attractive to men. With men in attendance, the rest of the family will follow and there will be plenty of money. See www.churchformen.org / Why Men Hate Going To Church by David Morrow

We have experienced the same thing....Now all the children of our Church have grown up and moved away....
You need to cater to the age group....I love Awana...Look into starting this program at your church and you may even attract children from around your area who don't normally attend church....If you pick my answer, I will ask my son what he is doing at his church..they just started a new program for 1st and 2nd graders, and the kids love it...
Most importantly, Pray about it!....It is my dream to start a Children's ministry summer camp on our property in Montana...I've been praying for this for years now....You pray for me and I'll pray for you!!....God Bless You!

My church is in the same boat.

Try taking your cares before the congregation (if you haven't already), get as much input as u can. Some of the best ideas come from people you'd never expect.

PLEASE BAN ALL TALK OF SATAN AND HELL!!!! Makes nightmares! They can learn about all those things later. Make serving God a joy and not with any arm-twisting.

Do talk about the fruits of the spirit and how all their dead loved ones are living in heavan. Tell them how to be spiritual in a way that will benefit their lives without fear. Make learning fun. Games! Lots of Games! Singing, dancing, role playing, dress up. Show them all the Veggie Tune videos, do arts and crafts.

Teach them about religious tolerance. Tell them that you let God do the judging. Give them choices and ask what they think about things without judging. Keep it simple and fun. Good luck.

If you are having trouble keeping people attending you Church, it's not the lack of children's ministry it's your Senior Pastor. You might need a new leader, one with a vision.

Teach those young people to raise their voice up to the most high. Teach them to sing with their whole hearts and souls. Take them to nursing homes and let them sing to the elderly who can not get out and rarely see children. It will cost nothing but they will be giving their all to people who need to hear what they are singing...Best Wishes!!

Keep it structured and every second occupied with things to do and have goals in mind.

teach songs so they will sing anywhere and everywhere with enjoyment
teach about the most popular bible stories and hook their daily lives to the story so they may use it
keep your cool and give them praise when they remember what youve told them
let them develop friendships so they can grow up together for a long time encouraging eachother. Encourage them all to know eachothers name and set up activities for some team effort.
pray before snacks and food because they watch you and teach them how to pray. Pray one week about things they are thinking about and then keep asking them about how things went and encourage them and give God praise.
the kids love stickers and prizes.....they use those incentives to memorize scripture. teach them what the scripture means.

PUPPET MINISTRY!
we have a very small church, too... our youngin's tell stories to the congregation via puppets while hiding behind a curtain - it is adorable!!!
puppets can be made simple or maybe someone in the congregation can help make them?
good luck and God bless the children!!
