When they ask.."If we evolved from monkeys, then why are there still monkeys..?", among many other things they are they are missing some persepctive..

Archaebacteria emerged at least 3.5 billion years ago and are the oldest life forms.

So, should the ill informed creationists question really be..: If everything evolved from archaebactreia, then why are there still archaebacteria..?

The "smarter" ones should at least gather a clue from this.. I'm not holding my breath of course..

If in doubt, do a web search on "extremophiles" or "archaebacteria", but be careful, you might learn something..

Only very poorly informed creationists ask this question. I agree that asking this question only displays a person's ignorance of the theory.

However, the fact that there are dumb creationists out there does not necessarily in itself mean that creationism is wrong - it just means that there are some dumb creationists. There are also some dumb evolutionists out there, and their existence also does not disprove evolution. It really is beside the point.

Let's just agree that the "why are there still monkeys" question is a dumb one and move on.

Edit : to the guy who posted after me - the idea that women have one less rib than men is an urban legend. It's not true. Do a google search on it.

The "evolving from monkeys" question was a deliberate mis-interpretation by creationists at the time Darwin published his theories. Creationists at the time wanted to make people recoil from the concept that they were somehow related to mere monkeys, rather than the more "noble" and obviously more intelligent apes with which we share a common ancestry.

This deliberate misinterpretation was then extended into the famous "if we evolved from monkeys why are there still monkeys?" issue which again is something that Darwin never said.

Throughout the past nearly 150 years creationists have waged a propaganda war against the theory of evolution which has fooled no-one except those gullible enough to believe it and those too brainwashed to want to understand it. Creationists trade on ignorance and mis-information which they dress up to look like science for those too feeble minded to see through their transparent lack of evidence and falsified data.

You won't get many creationists searching for "archaebacteria" or anything else that actually might inform them of the truth because they've been told that a non-existent being doesn't want open-minded people as followers because open-minded people make decisions of their own which may not conform to what their leaders want.

You probably know though. that there is NO scientific evidence to support the evolution THEORY. And don't say, "oh, well, you can't prove something like that", because you actually can! A large group of scientist's started trying between the 1940's and 1980's. They used drugs and chemicals to greatly speed up the process, and had certain animals continuousl grow and reproduce. They conscluded SCIENTIFICALLY that evolution COULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED! But as I've said in the past, I guess that the scientists who back up religion must be wrong!

Spirit creatures don't exist, do they? *cough* ghosts *cough*
Nope, obviously no proof there.

They're crazy, them creationists!

Let the scientists from the CSC (Center for Science & Culture) answer this best: www.dissentfromdarwin.org

This will show you how smart the text books are in your university, college or high school class really are. (By the way, your approach to Evolution using "college knowledge" is just mere, intellectualism wrapped-up in assumption !!! You don't want to go to this web-site (the one I stated).

I've realized that, sadly, there is no way to reason with creationists. There are a million more logical fallacies I could point out and they wouldn't change their minds.

Don't you know? Creationists don't DO research. God magicially zaps information into their brain.
