Did you know Baked potatoes are full of minerals and vitamins..what a great choice you made.....I love them too...
I usually get large ones..all about the same size so they are done at the same time...first scrub them with a brush...to remove any dirt or sand....then prick with a fork...to allow steam to come out while baking.....I like to oil mine with any oil but I use olive oil for everything....since I'm Italian Mama.....then I place them on baking sheet in a very hot oven of 425 degrees....and usually they are done in about 40 minutes...but you have to stick one with a knife in the middle to test before they time is up....so they don't bake too long...I like them baked in the regular oven more than the microwave oven...the texture is different and seems to have a different taste to me....all depends on how hungry I am and also during the summer I hate to turn on the regular oven...
Plus I like to top the potatoes with sour cream, friend bacon bits, chives, ground fresh black pepper....sea salt....some of each or....one or two listed...
Good luck..happy eating!

i almost forgot don't buy the baking potatoes that have a green cast they are bitter....and also....if you have some baked potatoes leftover they are wonderful to pan saute the next day for breakfast...with eggs etc..that is another story...lol bye again...JG

Here is what I do. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Wash the potato's. Brush with vegetable oil, corn oil gives the best flavor. Cook on the oven rack for about an hour, test with a fork. Serve with butter, sour cream, salt and pepper. Maybe some chives and bacon bits. The oil will make the skin crispy and delicious.

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Wash and dry the potatoes. Cover each one in foil. Then poke holes all around so they don't explode. Bake for 1 hour. Perfect every time!
Enjoy!!!

average size Idaho potato: pierce skin with fork. Put oven on 400 degrees. Bake for one hour. MICROWAVE potatoes are NOT nearly as good as baked.
