They sent me a letter in the mail w/ a court date, which I missed becuase I never got the letter! They even know they got the letter back "return to sender" "not at this address" whatever. They misspelled my street name "grancille" which should be "granville" v NOT c!!!! Is thisi fair? Has this happened to anyone else?

to answer mickkoozs' question. i knew i was going to be going to court comming up, but didn't know when, so when i called to ask, they told me i missed it & there was a warrant. i asked why no letter? they said they sent one. i asked where to? she said my address outloud & it sounded fine, but when she look & seen the letter returned, I asked her to spell the address & that's when I found out.

apparently they don't have to be hand delivered or registered in Nebraska, although I have gotten registered letters before, but not in this case!!!

Maybe the letter was registered, but they probably couldn't find it w/ the wrong address? Which explains why it couldn't be hand delivered either! Either way, I just want another court date & to have notice of it so I don't miss it again!

Bring all the data you have to court and show it to the judge. I'll bet he will understand. Be calm. Be respectful. Don't get nervous if you can help it. One useful suggestion. Rehearse how you will open your case when the judge asks you to speak. Try it out on friends.

How is it that you know that they received the letter and the misspelling?
I always thought that letters like that are either hand delivered or are mailed registered.

Wow, double D's. What can I say? Go to court and handle your business...NOW! They'll come get you if you don't. Then you'll sit in jail until the judge to sends for you.

Get over it. You still committed the crime. Be a big girl and take care of it.
