I lived in Texarkana in the early 90s. It is literally the armpit of Arkansas, Texas and LA...yes, all of them. Sure, there are some nice areas and some nice people as well but it's a very extreme when it comes to the social classes. There's either total trash or as I said, nice people....some a bit on the pretentious side but nice. They don't however accept newcomers very well. Also a bit scary to live there. Not the safest place by any stretch.
Don't expect to see any sites while in Texarkana either. It's like driving up to one giant truckstop, parking the semi and living there. Yuck. Oh...did I mention the heat too??

Tulsa? A totally different story. My sister and her hubby just moved here after living there for around 3 yrs. Her husband is from there and his family is still. I had visited other friends who live there prior to her moving and have always liked ...no...loved it. I became really aquainted with Tulsa however during the time she was there. There are people I met just through her I am in contact with on a regular basis even still.
As for the town....It's very well laid out which is always a plus but of course isn't what "makes" the town. Obviously had(has) a great planning commission. As for the social scene it is wonderful! The little shops, plazas, etc.....all fabulous. I'm sure you can search the economics of the town ...I'll try to find you a website.....but obviously there are many well off families due to the oil but you'd not know it by actions. Extremely real and down to earth people. Very nice and personable. I could go on but I think you get the picture. This is an absolute no brainer imo. Having spent a great deal of time in both places there would be no hesitation as to where I would be if I had to choose....TULSA.

I just noticed you posted this question under "singles and dating." I'm sure there are some quality people in Texarkana but your odds are going to be far better in Tulsa. My sister actually met her husband online and lived there with his family for about 6 months prior to their marriage. I have numerous other friends who ended up in Tulsa and all found very quality spouses and are happy to this day. Only one I know of has gotten a divorce and from my understanding that was actually over their difference in one wanting children and the other not. If you're looking at it from the standpoint of dating or being single and wanting to find a nice person, your chances are far greater in Tulsa.

Well, I hate Tulsa, and Texarkana has a cool name, so I'll go with it!

BTW, If you could answer this question I'd be so happy! Thanks.
