The survival of Israel has been a miracle. In 1948- a country without a standing army, ill equipped, wth no airforce, gets attacked by five of its neighbors, whose armies are ten times larger- and survives. In 1967 a country performs a modern military miracle, achieving an amazing victory in just 6 days. In 1973, on the holiest day of the year, Syria launches an attack when there are just skeleton forces along the border- most soldiers on leave due to the religious nature of the day. By rights, the country should have been destroyed- but it was not and Israel succesfuly defended itself. In the 90's, a million immigrants arrive from Russia. By rights, the economy should have collapsed, unable to absorb the sudden influx coupled with massive unempoyment and huge amounts paid out in social grants- instead, the country grew.

Israe is the only country in the world where the deserts are shrinking, where malaria has been eradicated. Its achievements in the sciences, medicine and so on are amazing, contributing far more to the world than it should given the fact it has a tiny population. But it survives, prospers, and the whole world prospers from its prosperity.

Miracles happen all around us. Just breathing and living is a miracle.

But you are probably asking about open miracles. Yes, there have been and are still plenty of biblical-style miracles in Israel.

One story I remember comes from the Six Day War. It seems that a few Jewish tanks were in the desert, surrounded by a number of Egyptian tanks. The Jews were sure they were going to die. But, strangely enough, the Egyptians surrendered. The Israelis couldn't figure out why the Egyptians would give themselves up to a vulnerable, out-numbered enemy.
Their captives told them, "When we heard the airplanes overhead, we realized that we were the ones who were outnumbered, so we surrendered to save our lives."
This left the Israelis even more confused, because they sure hadn't heard any airplanes! It seems that every single Egyptian hallucinated the sound of a warplane above them.

I'm not Jewish, but look at the 6 Day War. I believe this was a miracle.

Yes - Miracles still happen. Everywhere. Israel was misinterpreted - it was meant to be a metaphor, not a real literal place!
