Hey, Arthur! Get it right, man! The Pagan celebration of the winter solstice occurred on the solstice day, not 25th December, which is only a date from the Gregorian calendar of the 16th century. The sacred trees are the holly and the ivy, both of which are evergreens. The sacred colours are red and green, (sound familiar?) and there is no "tree God" as such. Christians overlaid their Christ Mass onto the winter solstice to try to convert the pagans, as they overlaid Easter onto the Spring equinox Eostra, the time of renewal, regrowth and fertility, symbolised by the rabbit and the egg. There's nothing new in this. Why bring it up yet again?

No. I don't worship a pagan god. I worship the real, Christian God. The tree thing? No Christians are not worshiping the tree. Do you put gifts under or on a Christmas tree? If so, does that mean you are worshiping the tree? It's simply a decoration. Something to add beauty and add to the season. At that tree gifts are given. Does God find gift giving an OK thing to do? I think so.

There is a Scripture which goes: "the work of the axman's hand. They deck it with gold and silver and fasten it with nails that it move not"........

It was pagan worship at its finest......

The ideal originated in the days of Nimrod..... He had become some kind of a king before God...... He married Semiramis..... In those days they believed the earth was flat.... so that when he died, she alerted the people that he was to be worshiped because at night, he went over the edge of the earth to fight off demons for them.........

But, she had become pregnant, Having a dead husband and pregnant, doesn't pan over with folks too kindly.... especially when they seek answers as to "how"..... and what she told the people became the catalyst for the purpose of hotcross buns...... that the rays of the sun had impregnated her and so they made hotcross bun to honor the sun god.... Whom he had become.......

Semiramis' son died early in childhood. They took the body out in the wilderness and buried it. Some years later, a tree had risen in the very spot.... She told the followers that the tree was to be worshipped because it was the regenerative being of her child...... and the people worshipped.....

Let it be known...... People will worship anything..... Including other people......

Ginger

no, dont worship this pagan tree god you're talking about. I sense you're talking about the Christmas tree. Based on the Bible, God forbids His followers to worship other gods except Himself...

It is prohibited by our true living God to worship things other than God. It is against the law of God.. Why do I worship the god of the pagans. No way.

Which tree god?
Celtic?
Germanic?
Asatru?
African?
Native American?
Chinese?
Japanese?

Your explanation is so very way off base. The Evergreen was used because of the promise that life continues.

As far as would Jesus approve? Why not do what most bible literalist do, quote Paul.

Now Jesus did make it very obvious, you try to pass on his word, if it is not accepted, move on and leave them to their self-made fate.

This question always gets the same answers from those who want to justify pagan traditions by attaching a "Christian meaning" to it, because they just CANNOT adjust their thinking to be in line with the bible. They want to just continue with what family and friends have always done, no matter how God feels about it and then ease their consciences by saying stuff like, "We know it wasn't REALLY Jesus' birthday, but it's the day we like to set aside to celebrate it". It's the same as trying to make a turd look, smell, feel, and taste like ice cream, at the end of the day, it's still a turd!

A lot of Christmas cards also say "Yuletide greetings"

Last time I checked Yule is a pagan holiday.

My answer is: Yes and Yes.

-thanks for the thoughtful question-

No I do not and Jesus and the Father are the only ones that deserve worship. Trees cannot save your soul. What a stupid question/
