This song came about when the nation was torn between authority, war, and what to do about everything. People were trying to find themselves. It was a time when people dreamed of peace, yet there was violence everywhere. Assassinations, riots, war. There was a lot of dreamers and a lot of people who did not understand who's fault it was.
If people really want to make the world a better place, then the place to start is at your home. If you do not have peace there, you ain't gonna have it elsewhere. With peace at home, then a person can move to his block, then his side of town, then the town, the state, the country, and finally the world.
We can all make a difference. It's great to dream. But, we need people of action. People who will make the difference. Look at our leaders or the ones running for election. There's not much hope there. It's time we did something.
There's not a person who lived thru the hell and love of the sixties that is not scarred from the violence. Yet, where are we today. Just recently another married man killed his pregnant girlfriend. Another child was beaten and killed. World peace starts here and now. Quit talking about it and do something.

No, I can't imagine, because I have already seen... I guess if one were to smoke enough pot they might be able to imagine a life that does not exist here on earth. The guys/gals over in Iraq would probably have a hard time imagining that right now since they are fighting for our peace as we speak and dying. That is not reality...while you are all joined in a make believe drug induced stupor you can imagine anything, why not go over to Iraq and sing that tune for them. JMO

Mankind living on imagination is like an animal like dog, cow ,carabao,donkey, horse and other animals.They don"t know how to evaluate things from their mind and do not know how to appreciate beautiful things as well as good things on earth and in Heaven.

sad how the most innfluential and powerful people are murdered. what a sad world. hopefully one day as john hopes as we all do....we will have some peace.

that imagination of john lennon is really happening... it's just his wishful thinking.. maybe he was depressed during the time he composed that song... yes!!! i can just imagine everything that's written there in the lyrics..
