Every situation of this type is different but I will try to cover this generally. If officers receive an anonymous call of a man with a gun in any potential dangerous situation and a description is provided the officers treat it as totally legitimate and dangerous call. If the person is observed upon officers arrival he would most likely be put at gunpoint and searched. Bulges, permits and indications are not necessary in this situation as you have the right to check him for yours and the public safety. If there are kids in the area or a function you would do your best to separate the danger from that area if you can.
If it turns out that the person is innocent, unarmed, or has a permit than you simply explain to him the situation and that you had to treat this as a legitimate danger. Remember this ...1 in 10 of these calls are going to be legitimate so if you handle that one time without following safety procedures I can guarantee you will get yourself or a citizen seriously hurt or killed.

since when is a man with a gun not a dangerous situation...better the Police Officers respond with guns drawn than take the chance of being unprepared for the task...action always beats reaction...if the guy is found to be legit, than no worries for him, and the Police Officers go home safe and sound to family.

Probably very fast and when they find a subject matching that descriptiion he would probably get drawn down on by the police.

This is an appropiate response by the police to pull their weapons on a man with a gun call (for their own safety and for the safety of the general public)

With guns loaded and drawn, at the ready. Best to be prepared and ask questions AFTER the armed man is subdued and unarmed.

Police are trained to serve and protect the law abiding public. How do I or you pass judgment without training in the field?
