I don't know if I can use NiMH batteries in electonics that call for Alkaline batteries. Does it make a difference which type of battery you use?

They are usually interchangable, but check with your owner's manual first. Some electronic devices are designed only for alkalines.

Also, alkalines hold their charge for years in storage, while NiMh batteries drain much faster. Alkalines are more practical for devices put away and not used often.

In most case I can think of, a higher number mean more of this or that. Having a higher rated battery would cause your camera to get more images out of the batteries you have.

I had a camera (film type) that said no ni-cads and I accidentally put ni-cads in it and it wouldn't work after that so that is the only case I can think of where that would apply.
