Yes. Airline regulation allows the use of an Ipod, or other electronic devices that do not use wave signal (or signal signals). Items that cannot be used are devices such as PDA's with email capabilities, portable Televisions, cellphones, and Remote Control Cars.

On the other hands, MP3s, Ipods, GameBoys, or Cell Phones with airplane mode are available for use on board an airplane. However, when the seatbelt sign is turned on, you should not use these because the radioactive waves coming from these devices could interfere with the jets communication and directional system, such as GPS.

So, basically, don't use things that have antennaes on the airplane! Otherwise, you can bring it aboard on your Carry-on luggage.

I got a free iPod Video from this site. All I had to do was sign up and complete a few simple online tasks, and that was it! Highly recommended.

yes, you will only be requested to turn it off during take off and landing because it may interfere with pilot communications.

Yes.

Just turn it off when they tell you to so you dont crash the plane.

(when at less then 10,000 feet at takeoff and landing)

So long as it's not submerged in more than 100mL of liquid or gel then you'll be fine...
