Greetings my Turkish friends. What do you call that dance(?) where the participants spin around for hours? I saw it once on the Discovery Channel years ago & the Madonna video "Bedtime Stories".

There use d to be a philosopher called Mevlana. Who says:
Whoever you are come, your religion, your money, your being poor,etc... don't matter. We welcome everybody. Come.
You are going to see their one hand is open up and one hand is down like giving someyhing. It means whatever i receive i give it to the others. You never let anybody down.
Mevlana is the symbol of friendship, tolerance, love, peace in Turkey.

It's a ritual dance, called semazen. You may also call them "whirling dervishes". There is a mosque somewhere in central Istanbul that you can see this "dance" live.

It is also called the Mevlevi order...
