Amnesty isn't a money issue - it is a LEGAL issue.
By giving amnesty to someone that is in this country illegally, you are rewarding criminal behavior. Since when is that how our nation works? There are millions in our prisons that have broken laws to feed their families and provide a better life to them, but no one is looking to forgive them of their crimes and allow them to go free. Why is that any different than proposing amnesty to illegal immigrants in this nation?
I say reroute the money being p*ssed away in Iraq to the cause to strengthen our borders, enforce our immigration laws and get people that don't belong here the hell out! How is that for money well spent?
ADD: John M. - I'm willing to spend the $12 billion - it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the $147 billion already spent on this war. And Iraq has NOTHING to do with 9/11. That was concluded by the 9/11 commission BEFORE we went into Iraq. Funny how some can be so blind. . .

First let me say, that in the legal aspect of amnesty.. many government officials say illegal immigrants should not be issued amnesty because they should not be pardoned for breaking the law by coming here... that is a minor offense compared to the crimes of Scooter Libby, who was pardoned and many more constitutional violations that have taken place within the Bush administration. However, I am not saying amnesty is necessarily alright, there needs to be a more productive and solid way to solve this issue. I too agree that the war in iraq is a waste of money, we're fighting a country that is no threat and never was after 9/11, and granting amnesty to illegal immigrants is not a huge financial problem. The truth is illegal immigrants give a lift to the U.S. economy and contribute many more dollars than they take. There are many false stereo-types about illegal immigrants and a lot of ignorance around this issue. This country was founded on illegal immigrants and they help America grow. About the law? Certain laws aren't always right.. we've learned that through history, whether it be the revolutionary war, the civil war or the civil rights movement... we should also use our hearts to decide what is best, combine them with our logic and not base decisions from unreasonable logic.

Since when is the investment in space wasted.
If the BungleBush had listened to Shinseki and initially put 400,000 troops in Iraq, there was great monetary potential in Iraq. (think oil and stability). There definitely isn't now.
There is absolutely no monetary potential in amnesty. The average illegal immigrant costs the American taxpayer over $10,000 per year.
The money we have lost in Iraq is paltry compared to the money we have lost due to illegal immigration. For the past 4 years however, obviously we have lost more money in Iraq

Uh, we DO talk about the wasted money in both of those. It is just while neither of those directly affect us getting health care, going to school and being able to read pamphlets because there are a bunch of different languages on it.
I DO agree that we need to spend more money in America before we start taking care of everyone else.

I think we should stop all space exploration. It is useless. Why do we need to go up in space and waste time and $$$$$, when we have people in this country who need help?
The war?? Get our troops back home, where they're needed. The war is another useless endeavor. Why the government feels they need to waste money on Iraq is beyond me. Hussein is dead, long live the next Hussein. Let the citizens of Iraq get a brain and fix themselves.

No one in Congress has authorized a study on how much it will cost to contact, gather, and ship 12 million people back to Mexico.
Congress won't study it because no bill has been passed authorizing it. If it only cost $1,000.00 per person it would require $12,000,000,000.00 (12 billion).
That qualifies as a money issue.
Who told you that money is being wasted in space?
Who told you that money is being wasted in Iraq?
Do you remember the two tall buildings that used to be in N.Y. City??

We are not waisting money on space or Iraq. Space has greatly improved technology and we need to protect and give our solders all the supplies they need to protect and defend themselves. Our solders are worth and deserve our support. It is not money waisted. Shame on you. Peace

Let's say you're against amnesty, for whatever reason. The more people you can convince to agree with you, the louder your voice is in fighting it. To convince other people, you bring up any reason you can think of that will appeal to their interests.
You don't worry overly much about the reasons being logical or sensible or entirely factual, because most won't care or check.
