A therapist can definitely help, and you might want to find a psychiatrist also, if your phobia is so strong you need meds to work with it.
Hypnosis, relaxation exercises, meditation and/or prayer also help to calm your system.

It depends on what the phobia is and how severe. I know you'll hate to hear this, but sometimes nothing works and you just have to live with the phobia.

I have a severe phobia of bugs and insects and I've been to therapists to get rid of it and nothing worked.

Before you spend a lot of money on a therapist, you might also consider that they just do the same things you could do on your own by reading a book about getting rid of phobias. You might want to try it on your own first, as therapists can be expensive.

If you go to a therapist, find one who uses a technique you're comfortable with. Some therapists desensitize you gradually
while others fully immerse you into the phobnia until you learn to stop panicking. Ask around to find someone you'll like.

For a drug free way to help sort out the phobia try energy therapy. Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) works great to help people resolve phobias without drugs - and you can learn to use it yourself on yourself so you don''t always have to be rushing off to a therapist. You can download a free manual from the EFT site.

Find out more info from these sites below and good luck... do not give up on sorting this out.
