You will not believe what I found out about Joseph Smith.

Joseph Smith had a child bride as young as 14. In the 1800's 14 was still a child. It's easy to trace Civil War genealogy and my ancestors didn't marry teenagers but then I am not descended from people like Mr. Smith. Not letting girls make that choice is just wrong even if the parents are the ones doing it!

I always thought that the HBO hit series, "Big Love" was fiction but when I heard of Joseph Smith doing the child bride thing I realized that he must have been sick in the head.

I found this link in another Yahoo answers question. It really made me sick to know that 12 in a half million people honor a pedophile. I am glad that today these kind of sickos end up in jail!

The LDS "family individuals first" mantra isn't something yet a PR stunt. once you're a non-mormon or heaven forbid, a former mormon, you're frequently avoided, disparaged, and excluded from the main appropriate family individuals gatherings such as funerals (as a speaker) and weddings on account that they are interior the LDS-purely temples. maximum Mormons are not conscious that their temple rituals got here from the Masons or perhaps LDS historians agree that Mason rituals have been invented interior the sixteenth century. So easy Mormons could desire to stand the actuality that their rituals are 95% masonic so why could God use that because of the fact the flexibility to deliver them to Him and Godhood? maximum Mormons don't understand that anciently, with the Jewish temple, buyers got here to it to alter into worth truly than stay so that they could come. vast distinction. And it became there that sacrifices (the metaphor of Christ's sacrifice) allowed them to be worth. So Mormons could desire to attempt against with the actuality that their temples are not a restoration of something Biblical, or perhaps worse, their exclusionary techniques fly interior the face of latest testomony Christianity. examine Luke 18 for some grounding right here. additionally examine a million Cor 3 the place Paul says that now, we are the temple. Psuedo Christian cults are continuously approximately administration and the LDS church is precisely that. And oddly, no longer even their founding prophet could have been deemed worth to circulate into the temples that Mormons enter right this moment.

Fourteen was not an uncommon age to marry in the 1800's, or even in the early 1900's.

The concept of "teenagers" wasn't a part of American (or any other) culture until the 1950's. And it wasn't until then that people began to accept the idea of the "teen" ages as an extended childhood.

My grandmother got married around 1940. She was 15, and married a man who was 24. They had kids right away, and she eventually had six who lived to adulthood. Throughout this time, she cared for her kids and her husband, despite a war raging around her, and losing every material possession to an occupying Axis army. After the war, she and my grandfather rebuilt their lives from scratch, without government assistance, and she raised her kids to all be successful professionals. She remained married for over 60 years, until my grandfather's death.

"Teenagers" were expected to be something different back then. And they rose to meet those expectations. You cannot compare the feral, spoiled, immature, mincing, whinging teenaged brats of today, with the teenagers of several generations back, who were raised to persevere through hardship, imbued with a sense of duty, and developed early a sense of responsibility out of both pride and necessity.

And for the record, "pedophilia" is the abnormal sexual attraction to prepubescent children. Therefore, Joseph Smith, despite any other deviant tendencies he migh have had, was not a pedophile.

If you want to harp on a pedophile who started a church, go pick on Mohammed, the founder of Islam, who married a six year old girl named Aisha.

Oh really? Where do you get your proof from?

Here's mine:

For women in 1786, the average age of marriage was 20.5 years.

Between 1880 and 1889 the age went up to 21.6( Wells, 1985).

In 1890, the average age of marriage for men was 26.1 and 22.0 for women (Schmidt, 1996).

My ancestors too in America and other countries did not marry 14 year olds! I found info that sated most men did not marry someone as young as 14, 15, or even 16, if someone was 14 and married they were married to someone 18 or younger not as old as JoSmo!
My thought is, she was 14 she could have waited a while to find a good man to marry lets say 4 years, why exactly did a much older "wiser" "prophet" supposed to know things, want a 14 year old wife, what were they supposed to have intellectual conversations? All I know is that if God told him to have one, then God is messed up and I'll go join the Hindu Gods! Who cares though, no matter what LDSers will be LDSers, nothign will rock their "faith" hahahahaha

yes, hibby nobody likes, you everyone hates you because you're Mormon, go eat some worms.
Oh Please, LDS give it a rest. Why is it when someone merely questions what Joseph Smith did, the LDS doctrine, or simply disagrees, the LDS bawl babies come out.
The LDS have no problem what so ever of saying not so nice things about Christian Churches, I've been LDS I know. I've spoken to LDS, and sat in on their meetings, I know what they think about Christians.
Here's a tissue go cry to someone who cares.

I was always lead to believe that Polygamy was started when so many Mormon men were massacred in Missouri. Which left many women and children without husbands and wives.

I'm not Mormon btw... So recently I found it interesting that Joseph Smith actually was the one who started the practice. He had several affairs prior to the "revelation" of the practice.

Oh, and Mormonism is NOT A Christian Faith. It is Cult. Who believes in totally different ideals

They haven't depending on which Mormons you talk about. The Salt Lake City Mormons say God told them to stop doing it, even though their doctrine says it was to be practiced forever. Other groups still practice it though.
