We should try our best to read Scripture before breakfast and before bed and live it out throughout the day. Pray for Gods grace so that you will not get bored. Pray before you read the Bible so that the Holy Spirit will help you iterpret it. God Bless You!
A Daily exercise:
Take the Bible with both hands, say a prayer to the Holy Spirit and then flip through the Bible with your thumb and stop at any page and put your finger on one line. Then write the line down on a piece of paper and keep it in your pocket all day. Reflect on it. Do this every day.

For the OT Ruth, for the NT maybe a book like Ephesians. I would say read those two.
On the one hand if you are bored reading the Bible, you don't have to read the Bible.
The Bible is like my best friend so it is always exciting to read every verse.
You may be having trouble relating to what you are reading. You should read analytically and carefully and many times people wonder why the Bible says things the way it does, and then sometimes the light goes on and it makes perfect sense.

Is it possible you are having trouble with the version you are reading. I would recommend that you look at an NIV and compare it to KJV or NKJV. If you can find a bible study to get into, even just on your own and they usually have scripture references and then it not like sitting there and reading a chapter or two. I just did a bible study Breaking Free by Beth Moore. It was mostly based from Isaiah. Very interesting and a while ago I did one from Dutch Sheets on intercessory prayer! It was awesome. Do you have a Strong's concordance. I know after I got mine I was always in it looking things up and learning! And I agree with a few other people and just pray about it. Jesus knows your heart and if your heart has the desire to want to know more and read more then Jesus will light that fire in you! Good Luck!

Maybe instead of only reading a book of the Bible you should look into some commentaries to help with a deeper understanding of scripture. Reading through one of the Gospels is always a good thing to do.

James, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Galatians, Ephesians are all good if you want to learn more about Jesus. I personally find Song of Songs interesting to read because although it is known as the the "sex book" of the Bible, it can also be read as a love letter from God to His creation. My favorite verse is "Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the maidens." (Song of Songs 2:2) I later found out that my first name actually stems from the Hebrew word for lily: "shoshannah," which was really ironic. God often reveals how He much loves individual people through this book of the Bible.

I'd just stop reading something I was getting bored with and go read something else. There have been hundreds of thousands of books written since the Bible.

in the journey that your are a Christian your heavenly Father keeps to be alive - larger than the earthly father who died. study Psalms 23 - it is going to furnish you alleviation and braveness. in case you % to be experienced greater approximately the Triune God then that's a added tale. a million. Get a Bible it rather is translated in style new english (digital mail me - I actually have a nicely suggestion) 2. save the Bible next on your mattress. so which you will learn some as antagonistic to daily on an identical time as you upward thrust up. 3. initiate from Genesis a million. New testomony is a continuation of previous testomony. Or in case you have like 20 min each and every morning, learn a NT financial disaster and a OT financial disaster. you additionally can learn this each and every morning alongside which comprise your enjoyed ones. do not overlook appropriate to the names in the OT - I understand they're able to get rather uninteresting regardless of the undeniable fact that very educational. it is going to take a 300 and sixty 5 days or so so as which you would be able to finished analyzing the finished Bible. then you rather'll initiate as quickly as greater.

Exodus or Revelation I think would be good to read.
Exodus because its a pretty cool book and you get to read about Moses talking to God through a burning bush, plagues, the parting of the Red Sea etc....
Revelation because, well...If you into end of the world stuff or possibly "horror" stuff that would be a pretty good one to read.
Really though the whole Bible is good to read...Try just randomly opening somewhere all the time and read till you are unable to stop...Keeps things new and random :)

my personal favorites are proverbs and ecclesiastes. there's so much wisdom and common sense in those two books. a lot of women like love poems, and it's not typically one that most people read or preach from often, so i would say go for song of songs/ song of solomon. yeah... solomon's writings are my favorite.
i also agree with keri gee. try to find some kind of commentary. lately i've been studying midrash (jewish teachings from the tanach/ old testament), and it's given me a perspective on the old testament that i don't think i would have gotten from a christian commentary. you'll also benefit by picking up on some hebrew words along the way. just be careful when you read writings by the yeshiva- they're the movement that was most inspired by the pharisees.
