Consider common ingredients rather than "recipes" and then put your imaginations to use on what to pair the ingredients with. Here's a few to get you and your friends brainstorming.

1) Salsa with sour cream. (Okay, I can't help it. Here's one thing to do with the mixure: lather it on half of a pizza dough with shredded cheese, but stay clear of the edges of the dough. Add black olives, beans, and/or chopped meat, if you like. Fold over the naked half, and press edges together with the tines of a fork, at least twice around. Cook in a pre-heated 400 oven until golden brown and everyone--including the neighborhood dogs--are salivating.)

2) Mayonnaise with curry or dill or garlic or chili powder or crushed, drained pineapple, etc.

3) Dijon mustard with honey. (Not bad with turkey cutlets or pounded-thin chicken breasts.)

4) Extra-virgin olive oil with any of the following:
garlic, some dry ranch from a packet, chili powder, Italian seasoning, etc. (Alright...got any red or Yukan gold potatoes you need to use up? Wedge them, par-boil 'em, drain, DRY, and coat them with the oil mixture. Bake in a pre-heated 325 oven on a cookie sheet (or wrapped in aluminum foil) until fork-tender.)

I've also baked skinless chicken breasts in foil with the oil mixture.

5) Shredded cheese mixed in a bag with an herb or spice of your liking.

The nice thing about these types of concoctions, is that you can whip up just a bit and taste-test. You're not making a whole meal right off the bat. If you don't like the mayo-pineapple mix that you thought you'd try as a cold chicken salad, well, you'll know that ahead of time.

Anything you have on-hand can be mixed with your imagination. Assuming that you know some basics of "Cooking 101," you'll have great fun and good meals--and some laughs, too. ("What was I thinking?" kind of laughs.)

HAVE FUN!

I like this, especially now that it's winter. Don't let the simplicity turn you off -- it's really good, and I'm a "foodie". Easy Chicken Bake 1 pkg (6 oz) Stove Top Stuffing Mix for Chicken 1-1/2 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces 1 can (10-3/4 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup 1/3 cup sour cream 1 bag (16 oz) frozen mixed vegetables, thawed, drained Preheat oven to 400°F. Prepare stuffing mix as directed on package; set aside. Mix chicken, soup, sour cream and vegetables in 13x9-inch baking dish; top with the stuffing. Bake 30 min or until chicken is cooked through.

Don't you have at least one cookbook? That's the best way to try new recipes using the same old ingredients. If you have one with pictures, it's even better. Go to the index in the back, and search under the ingredients you have, such as "tuna", or 'green beans" or 'beans', whatever. They will list all the recipes there that contain those ingredients.

I have been collecting recipes since I was ten or eleven yrs. old. I now have a vast collection. You don't have to have a jillion, boo-coodles of spices, etc. Nothing wrong with cooking with spices. Some of my favorite recipes call for not much of anything; it's sometimes "how" you cook something that makes yourself and everyone else rave over it. Only you know what appeals to your palate and taste buds........ so, start experimenting and build your own repertoire.

Go to Recipe Zaar or All recipes .com and search by odd ingredients instead of looking for "tuna" search under a spice you have like "Parsley" and see if anything lights you up. Good Luck!
