A lot of people accuse them of lying, but I don't think they've ever actually read the stories of people on there that have been hurt by the church.

Wow, mezzo, awesome reponses. Mormons really do show their ignorance in their answers, don't they?

Mezzo, you said you're 15, right?
Mormons, how does it make you feel that a 15 year old is less ignorant, and knows more about the history of the church than you do?

Once again I see the bizarre mormon 'logic' applied that anti-mormon sites only exist because the church is 'true'. I've heard this all before. We are lead by Satan - that's a good way to keep relationships - tell the infidel they are wrong and evil. Christians are guitly of this also, but they don't own Utah, either.

Not all the stories on the exmo board are about bad mormons who offended someone else. Many are about the bad policies the church has in place, about the bad science the church uses to support its claims, about the bad things uttered by the church leaders. It's not about rejecting the 'truth', it's about finding the real truth, and it wasn't where or what we were told by the church. The result can be exhilarating, enlightening but mostly its devastating.

Mormons need to get over themselves and distance themselves from the horrific doctrine and history the church clings to and has caused so much bad feelings and hardship ever since the church was organized.

Mormons are fond of swinging their "Numchuks of Truth, yet wonder why so many people get clobbered in the process.

I was inactive for 5 years (age 19-24) and I found that site then and did read some of the stories. The thing that I realized after reading some of the stories, which helped me out a lot, is that these people were not hurt by the church itself, but by a person. My point is that people are imperfect and make mistakes, and I had to learn to forgive those who had hurt me and not blame the church as a whole. For every strory from someone who has been hurt there are many more from those who have been blessed and lifted up by those in the church. I decided soon after to go back to church, along with my infant daughter. My husband who was Catholic all his life then converted. I am so happy that I decided to forgive and move on and feel very happy to be back in church.

Also, there are many untruths on that site that even me being inactive at the time realized immediately. I would hope that if someone wanted to know more about the church that they would go to a LDS websight and attend church and get to know some of the people.

These ex-mormon sites remind me of the websites dedicated to putting down certain minority groups, telling their stories of how people within the mionority group hurt them or their families, and giving statistics on how many of these people commit crimes, end up in jail, use drugs, etc.... Luckily most see these sites for what they are, sites of hatred, and don't blame an entire race for mistakes of some.

I've actually read a few of the stories on exmormon.org, and I've seen some truths and some exaggerations of the truth. That's as much as I am going to say. I respect the decision that those people had to leave the church and I am sorry that some have felt disrespected. We all have our own ways of faith, and I think the reasonable thing to do is to understand that notion, and accept it.

But these kind of questions really get us nowhere. Both sides just claim the other side is ignorant or "lying". I think there is probably truth from both perspectives. That of the Mormon, and that of the Ex-Mormon. I think both groups have done their research and they have their own personal reasons for what they believe.

I have read it. First when I was doing my research about the church last year when I started to meet with the missionaries and after being member too, I have read it because I am sometimes curious of what is next ... and I compare what I know is true to what is written in "sources" like those. I found by myself, not by nobody else that this church is true so I don't mind to read those web sites, my testimony will not change. Believe it or not, anti-Mormon stuffs make my testimony grow but I won't deny that sometimes I get kinda mad to see how people that call themselves religious bash others (not only the attacks to Mormons, but the attacks to many other churches that are bashed).

particular I truly have examine it! i became a temple going member for years... this is fake and poorly written... have you ever examine the 1st version of the e book of mormon from 1830? Oh guy did it choose some help, and have been given it! rather much 4000 variations, and maximum are no longer gammical. The evidence is obvious that the e book of Mormon won't be able to be awesome, and Joseph Smith became a pretend prophet who has deceived many. in ingredient of reality that the Bible incorporates the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I have heard and read the things that are on the Web page and as much as you want all of it to be true it just inst so. It has many exaggerations and very few things that are true. People in the church are not perfect and some people have had bad experiences with members and leaders. But the church is true even if the people are not perfect. I agree with guitarpicker... the church has to be true it is the only one people really try to tear apart only Satan could be as devious as that to drive people away. Just because members have read those things does not mean it shatters their faith in the church.

I have and you cannot blame the entire church of 13,000,000 people for these circumstances. Only about half of the members are even active and even less have their own testimony, read the scriptures, and pray on a regular basis. Also, you shouldn't base your entire testimony on others who had bad experiences. (by the way, I have studied the gospel. I may not know everything, but no one does. I didn't appreciate your answer to my question on the church. Just cause you lost faith in the gospel when you got to difficult aspects of it doesn't mean other people will. I wanted to tell you this earlier but you have a blocked e-mail)

Why waste my time? I'm 13 and have been in the church all my life. I KNOW it's true. it's blessed me so much, and I don't know what I'd do without it. Seriously, I think it's AWESOME! Everyone is so nice, and I feel like I'm going to a place I actually belong when I go to church every Sunday. Maybe you should go. See how you feel when you enter those doors... I bet you'd feel peace and safety. That's what I always feel.

That site was my therapy when I first discovered the truth about the LDS/Mormon church. I didn't have the negative experiences that a lot of people on there did, but I emphatize with them, and their strength and wit helped pull me through one of the most depressing times of my life.

I HAVE!!! Those stories and articles are completely true...the web page is VERY reliable. Let's just say there's some VERY good reads on there *wink wink*...and it's not all just people getting offended by something someone said (you honestly think i would give up the church over that?). Theres statistics of how many members there ACTUALLY is, proof of the lies of the church, lies of the PROPHET, and just stories of things the church is doing right now, that are in no way fictional stories.

Ex-mormon now! (honestly, after what i've found out about the church, not only on exmormon.org, there is no way IN HELL i could POSSIBLY stay in that lie, i mean, church.

Edit:

Marcia- "why would i read something that's so full of itself..." SEE! YOU HAVENT EVEN READ IT, SO HOW CAN YOU KNOW IT'S FULL OF ITSELF? Oh, wait, did your prophet tell you?

Jdancy- did i ACTUALLY just read what i think i did? You said god's word hasnt and doesnt change? Wow, you obviously dont know your church's history AT ALL. There are many instances where church history has changed. You're telling me you cant think of ANY??? (polygamy on and off, blacks getting the priesthood and being worthy to enter the celestial kingdom, and every single time that a prophet has gotten "revelation from god" which is supposed to be doctrine, but when the next prophet rolls around, it's just considered OPINION. There's plenty more of that too.)
