yes, air force deployments are about 6 months long, but as far as the duty swapping. You'd have to get that approved by your branch manager, he could help you out, or he could just be an a** and leave you with what you've got. It wouldn't hurt to try, but it definatly isn't gaurenteed.

Length of deployment depends entirely on the branch of the military one is attached to. USMC and Navy deployments are usually 6-7 months long... Army is much longer. I haven't heard how long the Air Force deployments are... but trust some of the other posters, who apparently know.
As for trading duty stations, I would suppose anything's possible... And the Air Force tends to do things differently than any other branch... so it doesn't sound all that unrealistic.

Yes it is true, you can switch duty stations with other people with the same job. You both have to be graduating within the same timeframe, etc, but it is possible in fact I've seen it done. As for deployments, it is true 4-6 mths, however, with all of the in lieu of taskings that Air Force personnel are getting tasked for in place of Army people because they are shorthanded some of the deployments are lasting longer 6-9mths, but not all of them. Nothing is ever a sure thing. Good luck in your decision.

Trading Duty Assignments / It is possible to trade duty assignments with another airman that is in your class / The Air Force sees you as 3 skill level wise when you graduate Tech School - to fill a position in the field
Deployments / are currently 120 days long / Security Forces and Army Tasked are running 180 days long

Deployments are currently four or six months, but keep in mind, you'll be gone longer if you have to do six weeks of Army Combat Skills Training. When I was in tech school, you could switch stations with other people in your graduating class.

Assignment swaps out of tech school can be approved but nothing's guaranteed - you have to have the same job plus the same reporting month. Length of deployments depends on where you're going and why.

I wouldn't know if that is true, but it is almost certain that you will go overseas. During war time, and peace time, you will go places. Remember, the recruiters will tell you anything you want to hear, but 99% of the time, they are right on. Don't be afraid to join once you get all the answers to your questions. Good luck, and God bless

According the Privacy Act. They can only give documents to the person they belong to in person. This is the same as trying to get medical records from a doctor or legal documents from a lawyer. Its not new. Just go down there and get them with your daughter. They will give them back.

In recent years, everyone that I've known who went into the military was sent to Iraq and for about 1 year. Hope you will hear from some with recent military experience. But I wouldn't believe a word that the recruiter says.
