Someone please explain this to me.

According to liberals and "immigrant rights" groups, if I am against amnesty for illegals and if my opinion differs from theirs in ANY way I'm a racist.

Now, I understand that that stirs up emotions in people and will bring sheep unable to think for themselves to your side, but, how does wanting to enforce the laws we have and wanting people to come here if they do it legaly make me a racist?

Coza, the current laws aren't unenforceable, it's that they aren't enforced...there is a big difference.

So Glitter, what your saying is that if I answer questions the same way you have then I'm a racist just like you...got it.

please pay no mind to those extremists. they come from both sides of this "war." and every war has their idiots. but understand that there are legitimate arguments from both sides that are trying to come out through all the yelling and ranting.

No, but it does mean that you are thinking.

The advantage of having a radical opinion is that there are so many other people who are willing to give you all the reasons and do all your thinking for you. They also make great sound bites so get a lot of play in the media.

The problem is that the moderates are looking for a working solution to the problem. What we need is a way for them to work, say Bush's liberal Green Card program, and then when they have the job they can spend the time to do the work and make it all legal and right. I don't have a problem with that and I don't mind workers coming here to do the work that Americans refuse to do. We need people to do that, and any immigrant worker solution has to take that into account. Besides if you give the immigrant worker a legal way to work in the US then they won’t have to sneak across the border. That will be left for the drug dealers and the other unwanted people.

It does not make you a racist, if you present your beliefs in a sound well thought out manner, I would respect your comments, but after one has been on the answers section for a while you know who the racist are. my response to them would be in like fashion, but I would still apply logic to that answer.

there is no problem in wanting to enforce your laws.
its the way that you do it and how you speak about them that make you who you are.

ive never called anyone a racist but i can assure you that there are some pretty racist comments in yahoo from both sides.

i call racist some one who takes this opportunity to bash a country and there people...you must agree that most of these questions only mention illegal mexicans...

what do you call that?

Hate to inform you of the truth like this, but the only liberals I know of that are for amnesty, are in the US Legislature. Good old fashioned "commie-pinko-libs" like myself have been very vocal on the amnesty debate, and are against it. Illegal immigration drives down wages, reduces retirement benefits, and will eventually destroy what is left of reasonable health care.

this is a broad generalization, but think about it. here's a refugee family fleeing from hunger, poverty, and (in the deep south) open warfare. you want to send them back to possible death. oh, you say, they should just come here legally. right, like that's possible. maybe you should take a trip down to chiapis and see how things are. and many of these folks are not mexican, they're from honduras, guatemala, and salvador. try walking around in salvador at night. or anywhere outside of town.

go ahead everybody give me thumbs down if you must, but know this, it's not the immigrants in this country that are the problem. it's DC.

you are entitled to racism and regardless of that, you do not need to justify your decisions. If you support one side, for one reason or another you think that that is best for the country. Stand by your ideology no matter what kind of dirt the opposing side throws at you.

I'd rather be labeled a racist than a man of weak character or indecision.

You answered it within your question:

"Now, I understand that stirs up emotions in people and will bring sheep unable to think for themselves to your side. . ."

They are looking to shame people into agreeing with them, because they can't defend their stance about it being AGAINST THE LAW. It is a shame that they have to fight that way, but I guess all is fair in love and illegal immigration.

Either we retain the right to think and act for ourselves, or the angry mob is always right.

not really but when you hide behind patriotism to justify a prejudice and generalize on the actions of a few then there is an issue.
