Hum as much as I love Ventura...I think that Big Bear may be more peaceful.

IMHO, no. (First of all, Silver Strand is near San Diego, not Ventura-- Copestir take note). Silver Strand is too close to Imperial Beach, which is right on the Mexican Border. The area is infamous for "Mexican Sea Logs", the raw sewage that comes from Tijuana and washes up on the shore.
