Vista is great if you have like 2-4+gb of RAM. But it's really bad on like 1gb or under. I find it really good and im using it now "Windows Vista Ultimate".

an upgrade will be coming out soon (Windows Vista Service Pack 2, I think)

Good luck and i hope this helps.

My brother has Vista on his Desktop, and I have to say, it is not very user friendly. I have been using windows XP for about 4 years, and when trying to use Vista, it's like Microsoft just blindly moved the contents of the start menu around. Very hard to use, I even got an error code while using it my first time. Highly advise for you to wait until an SP (Service Pack) comes out. Meanwhile, I will get a new Mac

My brother-in-law, an network engineer has Vista and his recommendation is to wait.

Windows Vista is as different as apple and oranges from all previous versions of Windows. Some of the drivers for it haven't been written yet, and it can't use those drivers written for Windows XP. That means something as basic as your mouse could not work with Vista. That has been true since Windows 3.0.

Historically it has been the pattern for Microsoft to release their new OS full of bugs that they don't work out until after the first patch. Never buy a MS OS until after at least the first patch is out, unless you want to be a beta tester.

I have vista I recently bought a new computer and I have no problems with it except I have trouble downloading some pc games because they haven't been upgraded yet. I don't know what to download to get them to play.

I've been rewriting software to work on Vista for the past few weeks.

I would recommend that you wait at least until the first service pack is released before you jump in. They're inevitably going to find bugs, and there's no real benefit right now to being on the bleeding edge of technology.

You should wait. Vista has too many compatibility problems. One of my computers has Vista and if you want your peripheral devices to work, be prepared to search for new drivers. Some of your older devices might not work at all.

to learn more about Vista, i found this site useful.

I just read a news paper this morning about that.

If you PC has:
1GHz Processor
128MB Video
40GB HD
1GB RAM
*which is the minimum specs for Vista according to Microsoft,

-or less than any of those,

>>You should wait till you get a new PC with Vista Pre-Installed (with required specs) or until you get twice of the spec I mentioned above.....

inside info:::::::the new service pack for vista has a patch to try and stop P2P software from functioning and if you get it to work Vista will shut down and you will have to re validate your copy of vista.so if i was you don't do it.
don't believe me.then read the end user aggrement. and that will open your eye's.
trust big brother is watching you.

I have it and honetly its not that bad. Took about an hour to shut off/delete all the safety caches that it comes preloaded with. Other then that i have been very satisfied. It has a slightly different feel to it, but its not a bad thing.
