why is it that a lot of people associate all hispanics with the bad group of hispanics?

think about this. if americans were associated with places like the bronx, compton, oak cliff, and other bad areas of the united states, we would seem like pretty bad people too right?

well, think about that. people need to learn to know who the people are before they go stereotyping, right?

as for me, i like to talk to a person before i judge based on looks or ethnicity.

thoughts? opinions?

I agree with you 100%. And, I know for a fact that most Mexicans (like most people of any country) are decent caring people.

I'm a driver taking some time off in Laredo TX at the moment, when I delivered here Wednesday I was cut off by a driver and had to put my vehicle into a culvert to avoid hitting other vehicles. Not a single vehicle would stop to help (including those that I had to swerve to avoid hitting). After about ten minutes and numerous cars and trucks driving by and just looking a Mexican stopped to help me.

He didn't speak any English, and I don't speak any Spanish so it was kind of funny, but, we were able to work together to get my vehicle out of the culvert and I made my delivery on time. He also refused to take any money for helping me.

Thursday I spent the day in Mexico and spent a wonderful day with nice people who treated me great and I enjoyed great food.

From what I have read on here and a lot of other places, most people dont think all Hispanics are bad. They just want to get the illegal ones out of here. Can you not understand that? Most of us don't have a problem with Hispanics that came here using legal methods. I agree with an earlier answer. we do not like being thought of as racist just because we want our laws enforced.

Sergio--

I'm telling you the same thing I told Spazz earlier today.....which is: You are a great kid, and I have a soft spot for you. While I don't always agree with you, I enjoy seeing your young mind work.

You are understandably aligning with your culture. But open your eyes my young friend. There is plenty of dysfunction on both sides.

For example, do you think this post is helpful to furthering dialouge?

What about Coz A's hate post above?

But I do understand your point of view....it's like family. You can 'dis your family all you want, but if someone else does so, you are takin' it outside, right?

You are a great kid, and when I read the posts of you, Spazz (and talk to my own 14 year old.....) I have a lot more faith in the future of our country then I have in the "here and now".

Take care my young friend.

Sergio:
You are correct about the whole issue!
The thing is though that this has gone on since man has
walked the earth and it would be great if it changed and
people could just be people.
Keep pushing the issue and the few people you get to change there way of thinking will get a few more and so on...

i agree, I don't want to be perceived as ghetto, on welfare, and that i live in the Bronx just because I'm Puerto Rican. I busted my butt from elementary school all the way through college, and today I'm a nurse, thank you very much!!!

So I, as many others don't fit into that category or stereotype of being a criminal/bad person just because I'm Hispanic!

You are right. We shouldn't judge people by the way they look. It is too bad that everyone does at one time or the other.

I guess because they don't know who is legal and who isn't. There are so many illegal immigrants in the US that is becomes hard to tell who is legal.
I personally don't stereotype people like that, although I would dislike anybody who broke the law to enter the US. (Notice I said "I would" every latino I know is here legally)

You sure you arent making a generalization yourself? I am not one of those people. I have friends from mexico and central america. Legal ones of course.

If these groups are giving your people a bad name then why don't you do something about it?
