That's really sad that a religion that claims to worship a creator has to hide from his creation when worshipping him.

Do walls and stained glass take the place of fog, forest and starlight?

Do narrow pews and uncomfortable seats bring you closer to the divine than the gurgling of a brook, the gentle yielding nature of the moss and the grandeur of boulders that have sat unmoved for thousands of years?

Are you so afraid of lightning you huddle under robes in hopes of escaping it?

Is Life so scary you pray for death to alleviate you of this 'burden'?

Like mice scurrying for burrows, you race for the safety of four walls and a roof rather than embrace the planet that gave you birth?

Pfaw!

I think it is interesting that this eloquent display of talent is already finding fault among the faithful. I found it refreshing, true, and unfortunately sad. I find my greatest comfort and peace in the stillness and complexity of nature. It is too bad that those who say they serve some creator cannot take the time to admire and take care of the creation.

I'm not religious but to blame Christians for windows seems like a stretch. If that's the case though, then my boss is also trying to separate the flock from Nature, as well as my landlord, every store I go to and every building I've ever been in. Pews and such may be a traditional convenient way to seat many people. Have you ever noticed that most cafeterias have the same uncomfortable seating, whether for children in school or for adults, in jail or else where?

The Bible says that God is love, not God is nature. God created us to have a relationship with him. The bible states that "no one has ever seen God, but when we love each other, Christ's love is brought to full expression through us." This is why "church" or a community of believers was established and this is why they continue to gather together to worship.
Yes, many people feel that they become closer to God when they observe nature, but I think it is the relationships with other people that He desires of us. God loves people, His true creation, more than the sun, stars, forest, etc. So, no people are not hiding from His creation at all when they worship him. People are His favorite creation.

I am a Christian and We gather together and are a Church. The place of worship is not a building It is the people who are the church. We can worship everywhere, the forest,in a building under a tent in someones home, anywhere.
I hope what baggage you are carrying will be lifted from your shoulders very soon by Jesus.

That was Beutiful, so eloquent, so true--they claim to worship the creator, but do so from within their own petty creations--leaving us to assume what they hate to admit--that they truly think that they are God, they worship themselves--does God need the money in the plate that they PRIDEfully and arrogantly flaunt? comparing with their neighbor how much they placed in? and what does the BIBLE say? wherever two or more of you gather in my name............no, it doesn't say anything about stained glass or painted plaster statues, now does it? in fact it forbids those things

I could worship God every day and never step foot in a church. If you only worship God when you are in church, then you should be an atheist.
Embrace the planet that gave me birth? I worship the one who MADE the planet, not the planet itself.
Nature-worship is an insult to the one who created it.
Before you pass judgment in your obvious ignorance, you should really study what Christianity is all about.

Uh, I don't know where you're coming from, but Christianity is very open-minded. If your church chooses to worship outside, with nature, so be it. If your church chooses to worship in a large stone cathedral with wooden pews, so be it.

"Are you so afraid of lightning you huddle under robes in hopes of escaping it?"

We wear robes?

are you so afraid of truth that you must find delusional fault with those of faith?
I think you should gather up your loins and just say what you mean.
He He, just kidding. Hey, if you don't like church? Don't go. I'm sure you won't break anyone's heart.

you must live a sad life. i am a Christian , you speak of all this fear that we Christians have , but it seem to be you that is full of fear . you seem to fear what we believe , the churches we attend. is this the reason for all the hate you seem to have for us, and trust me when i say, we Christians , i mean we true born again followers of Christ fear nothing this world has to offer . and yes this means you and all the trash that you spread on answers . do you truly not understand Whom it is that we serve. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. do you not understand Who it is that protects us ? we have nothing to fear .
